Dr. Matthew Riley Atkinson, MD

I had recently been under the care of Dr. Atkinson. He was very capable and professional. He was able to diagnose my pancreatic cancer and properly stage it with an endoscopic ultrasound. He arranged my follow up with the surgeon and oncologist and answered all of my questions and concerns. I would recommend him highly

I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer by my gastroenterologist who referred me to dr. Atkinson for special procedures (eus and ercp with stent). He got me in for both procedures within 3 days. I can't say enough about how nice he was and how sensitive he was to my very difficult situation. He called me 2 days later (on a Saturday) with my biopsy results and got me right in to see a surgeon. I would strongly recommend him to anybody.

Had EUS performed by doctor, woke up during procedure after asking him to make sure I was out, due to gag reflex. Had shortness of breath after procedure (all weekend), called him on Monday, he returned call after 2 hours and told me I caught something at the hospital. Had chest x-ray on Tuesday (ordered by his associate), had partially collasped left lung. Still had shortness of breath and found out I had paralyzed left phrenic nerve. Diaphragm does not work on left lung since phrenic nerve damaged. No breathing problems before EUS procedure.
