Dr. Matthew Daniels Baltes, DO

I have been a patient of Dr. Baltes' for several years and he has ALWAYS answered all of my emails in a timely manner. I feel that he really listens to me when I go in to see him and he has done a great job working with me. His biggest obstacle is sometimes getting me to listen to his advise, i.e., getting my weight under control. He's made several recommendations to me and I do try, but I'm on this terrible yo-yo. Nothing sticks. When I have problems in areas that are not his expertise, he makes very good referrals, so I have no complaints in this area with Dr. Baltes. I have seen many of the best doctors, due to Dr. Baltes' referrals. Since day one, the problems that I continue to have, are of my own doing, but I pray that I will eventually get it right! Valerie

It's been two weeks since I had a report of a possible neoplasm. I asked some questions via two emails and never received responses. You cannot contact offices or departments directly via the MetroHealth phone system. That also needs to be fixed. Operators think they are trained medically and have given me the wrong information on several occasions. Overall metro health systems and Dr. Baltes provide poor service. I would not consider either if you want decent health care. I will be looking for a different medical provider immediately.

The worst doctor I have ever encountered. He presumed I was feeling better, and when I told him I wasn't he had no idea what to do. When I brought up other symptoms I've been dealing with and asked for his advice, he literally laughed and said that wasn't his area. Frustrated, he asked "Well then why don't you tell me what you want me to do." I got up and left. Will never, ever go to him again.

It took me some time to realize that patient's need to own their appointment - ask questions, be active participants and don't expect a social visit. Dr. Baltes is definitely not socially oriented but he has done a good job with our family's medical needs. He has always taken the time to answer any questions I have - I just needed to ask.

He misdiagnosed a simple medical problem, didn't even look at me, or spend time listening to me.

I went to him only once and that was enough. Had to find another doctor to go to as he never greeted me or listened to me, and spent only couple of minutes in the room with most of that on his computer.

I went to him a few times and found him lacking bedside manners. He never seemed to be quite with me or paying attention to what I said. He was in a rush to leave every time I was there for consultation.

AVOID Dr. Baltes: 1) No eye contact with the patient; 2) Doesn't listen to what the patient has to say; 3) Spends less than a minute with the patient, and seems in a rush; 4) Doesn't explain what course of action will be needed if his prescribed method does not work;

Feel like cattle being herded in and out in under 5 minutes most of the time, no wonder you don't have a long waiting time to see him. Have actually been scheduled by his nurse, was in the room with me less than 15 seconds and charged me a full co-pay and full office visit to my insurance company.
