Dr. Matthew L Behan, DO

very highly recommended

He seems to be the combination of really good bedside manner and great clinical knowledge. I just started seeing him at the VA and I see why he has such a great reputation.

He has no idea what he is doing,his support staff will violate his order to not help a person to save their life but his opinion is flawed in the very facts of a patient's care.despite having 20 years of records that say do not he goes ahead and does what someone with experience would not do.he is dangerous to all patients he treats because of lacking experience and he refuses to ask for help from those who do have the knowledge he lacks.STAY FAR AWAY.

In my over 30 years of psychiatric treatment I have never experienced relief until Dr. Behan. He not only listens carefully to what I have to say, but he expresses compassion and validation which is vital to me. Other psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners have seemed to be nothing more than prescription writers. You can tell when you share your pains and frustrations with Dr. Behan that he is putting himself in your place and not judging you. He offers emotional support and a sense of hope. The very sad thing is that this month he is leaving the practice where I have been seeing him and going to work at the VA Hospital here in Erie and I will no longer be able to see him as I am not a vet. It is a terrible loss for me but a tremendous gain for our vets. They desperately need someone with his skill and level of sincere caring.

Finally a great psychiatrist. He has made a huge difference in my life through his care.

I was reffered to doctor Behan by a friend and I thank my friend many times for the good advice!

I have the means to seek help for my wife out of town. She has been ill for years with bipolar disorder. She became quite sick and I feared she may need to go back in the hospital. We heard good things about Dr. Behan and decided to see him (though we have not had luck with local psychiatrists). It is one of the best decisions we could have made. He took the time to understand her and made some careful and very effective changes to her regimen. I'm happy to report she is doing great and we plan to continue to see him.

a great doctor in a town of many bad ones

He took the time necessary to address a crisis situation i was having. He is always calm and seems to care. he really helped me out. The staff there was very professional.
