Dr. Matthew Evan Bernstein, MD

I have had the misfortune of having Mathew Bernstein as a psychiatrist for the past year or so. Throughout my life (due to living in many areas) I have had clinical relationships with at least 12 different psychiatrists. Of those, I can say without hesitation that Bernstein has been the most unhelpful in every respect, The most prominent theme/issue when dealing with this man is his complete disregard for what I have been vocal and clear about with respect to current/previous medication regiments. With no exaggeration this past year has been one of the worst for me specifically due to Bernstein's clear lack of interest in serving my well being. I was once a happy, enterprising and curious person who looked forward to each day. This past year I have never been more frustrated, improperly medicated, depressed or unwell than almost any other time in my life. For various reasons I was unable to switch to a more amenable, caring or helpful Psychiatrist. Bernstein is highly arrogant,… flippant and most of all simply does not care. My current state in life would be profoundly different If I had the means to see anyone else. If you value your mental health, particularly if you suffer from depression and or ADHD I implore you to find literally anybody else.

A solid doctor who is easy to talk to and provides good suggestions.

I suffer from refractory major depression and have been treated by Dr. Bernstein only for a short time. Dr. Bernstein is polite and professional but not very inspirational. He never seems willing to push the envelope w/me, and I usually leave his office feeling discouraged and incurable. He is content to maintain the status quo in prescribing my medications. I would like my Psychopharmacologist to be more pro-active.

I have been nothing but impressed with Dr. Bernstein throughout his care of me. He returns phone calls promptly and personally, and treats me with respect in every encounter. His interventions have made all the difference in my life.
