Dr. Matthew Gordon Chaffin, MD

Dr. Chaffin came highly recommend. He is a doctor of unparalleled talent and capability. I found that he took his time to listen,and address every issue and concern I had. He is personable, relatable, and most importantly extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Chaffin eased my anxiety by thoughtfully discussing and explaining the diagnosis and recommended treatment. I am thankful for having him as my doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a skilled nephrologist.

Dr. Chaffin is a great doctor who listens and is very informative about a patient’s condition and medical needs. He has helped us figure out my husband’s kidney issues and immediately referred him to a vascular surgeon and a urologist. We are very thankful for Dr. Chaffin.

I have been a patient of Dr. Chaffin for over six years. He is the most caring doctor there is. He listens to your concerns, isn’t quick to rush onto the next patient, like so many other doctor’s offices . He takes his time to find the answers and treat your Diognostics. He has no empathy, he’s not personable, has ZERO compassion for people who have kidney disease who are trying to deal with a life threatening condition. He tries to scare you into being compliant. He doesn’t discuss any results during the appointment and I have to ask for a print out of my labs. I feel defeated when I leave there. I will never go back there or recommend anyone to go there. Complete waste of time.

Our family is permanently scarred from the verbal personal attack Dr. Chaffin displayed in front of fellow colleagues as our father lay dying. He is unprofessional, dishonest, egotistical and refused to own or apologize for his behavior . He was allowed by the administration of St. Joseph’s Hospital to walk out out of a meeting with our family when he refused to answer questions about his actions. No matter what his professional credentials are on paper, his bed side manner is horrific!

Dr Chaffin, is the most caring ,available Dr around. He calls back immediately, when I have a question, I feel so well cared for, and he has gotten my kidney function back in the normal range.

This doctor does not understand that the kidneys are not the only organ in the body - there is also a set of lungs. And while the kidneys may love hydration, the lungs do not. Over hydration may not be bad for the kidneys, but it can cause pulmonary edema. Moreover, determining the CAUSE of the dehydration and treating that is a better shot than just develop-may-care hydration. The latter may be easier but not useful and possibly harmful in the end.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR CHAFFIN. I WOULDN'T BE ALIVE AND WELL IF IT WASN'T FOR HIM!

So thankful finally someone who listens, cares, and saw what other doctors did not. My daughter is thankful for Dr Chaffin too. Highly recommend him- is the kindest doctor I have met.
