At the time Matt was my medication management prescriber, he was still relatively new as a psychiatrist. When I 1st saw him, I was stable on my medication regime, so he did not have to make any adjustments. It was easy-going for him. However, when I decided to stop my medications it was due to my concerns related to fertility. He did not give me a solid answer regarding if psychotropic medications could negatively impact fertility. I went off my psychotropic medications and within a month I drastically went downhill. I hit the deepest depression I have ever experienced. He did not seem concerned regarding how severe my depression became. He did not attempt to aggressively treat my depression when I clearly needed more aggressive treatment. He did not offer empathetic support. He was generic in his explanations and I felt extremely disconnected to him in the way he spoke to me. Clearly, there was not a therapeutic relationship between us given his lack of ability to even attempt to… effectively treat me. He was not open to any suggestions I had researched or what had been suggested to me by providers with much more experience than him. Seems like at that point in his career, he was not equipped to treat an individual with severe depression.
