Dr. Matthew James Downey, MD

I went in for a consult and not only does he have the worst bedside manner I’ve ever encountered, he is condescending and rude. Does not listen to you and just dismisses your issues. Waste of my time. I asked for another doctor in the practice and was told I can’t be seen there, per him. They never called me back to rectify this. Do not recommend!!!

Patronizing, insincere; refuses to perform some standard, accepted procedures, e.g., hemorrhoidal banding. Not a confidlence - building, warm, or inspiring patient encounter

Dr. Downey has terrible bedside manner. He speaks for the patient instead of listening....and he is RUDE!! The 1st time I chalked it up to a bad day. Not the 2nd time. It's unfortunate, because his nurses and office staff are very kind and professional, and the office and procedure area is immaculateZ

Dr. Downey is courteous, professional and extremely trust worthy. He makes an uncomfortable procedure bearable.

Do not go to this physician if you are several years post-gastric bypass. He is bias and will not treat you or review your lab work seriously. Dr. Downey appears to have a chip on his shoulder regarding wls patients and "retired physicians". I found him to present rude and condescending. However,when you review your online record he gives a diagnosis or explanation that covers his own butt.

Possibly the worst doctor I have ever encountered. Very dismissive of my condition. Curt and abrasive with his tone of voice. Seemed as if he truly did not care one way or another. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.

Having worked with a Gastroenterologist for twenty years .I was appalled how the doctor mistaken gas which turned out to be three liters of abdominal fluid from ascites . A one year med students would pick that up with palpation of abdomen . This doctor sent my mother home with prilosec .Use for indigestion and ulcers .He had to be told by my brother what test to run. He then referred us to our PCP After seeing my mother couldn't walk the following day we took her to the ER where she showed to be in liver and kidney failure . This doctor should not be allowed to practice

Spoke with PA on first visit.Dr introduced himself prior to procedure and spent time explaining results and future treatment afterwards.

I would not recommend Dr. Downey, he is in practice for the money, passes you off to his assistant and has not compassion.

My first visit was pleasant,the Dr. spent quality time and answered all my questions.The following day i had called early morning,with complaints of pain, Dr. Downey's staff got back within the hr.
