He continued there for his internship and residency training in general surgery, becoming Chief Resident in General Surgery and receiving the Amarendra Sengupta Memorial Prize in Surgery. He then continued his training with a research fellowship in Vascular Surgery. He became both a Research Fellow and Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery at The University of Michigan School of Medicine
