Dr. Matthew William Hearn, MD

I've had two teeth pulled by Dr. Hearn, both were the least painful and quickest recovery of any extractions I've ever had. Yes, I have terrible teeth and a lot have been pulled over 60 years.

I just had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted four days ago. The healing process is going good, and my swelling went down after just 2 1/2 days. Dr. Hearn was very patient and made me feel comfortable with the procedure. He is great at what he does and gets the job done fast so you can quickly recover.

Dr. Hearn pulled 2 teeth for me today. Overall, I was pleased with my experience. The doctor was informative & helpful, answering my questions. I will be returning to this office! In my & my family’s experiences, All of the Doctors & staff @ Valpo family dentistry have ALWAYS been polite, helpful and friendly! Definitely a satisfied patient!

I had three teeth pulled today by Dr. Matthew Hearn. He was very personable, answered all of my questions and did a quick painless job. A true professional!! Thanks Doc!!

My mother was seen to have two teeth extracted by Dr. Hearn. Her mouth was EXTREMELY swollen (size of a baseball) and she was in terrible pain. Dr. Hearn started administering 3 numbing shots and she raised up her hand and asked him to stop because she was in terrible pain (FYI, you should not be administering shots into an infected, swollen area). Dr. Hearn started yelling "I'm not doing this, I'm done!!" & stormed out of the room leaving my mother hopeless and in terrible pain. I cannot believe the unprofessionalism that Hearn, a so called oral surgeon, displayed by storming out of a patient's room like a 5 year old. We have called to complain and they are sweeping this under the rug like it is nothing. We have gone to this office for YEARS and we will no longer be giving our business to such a terrible, unprofessional and undignified place and "doctor".

Still feels like I have a cavity where my tooth once was because there is a large hard cyst growing in place of the hole over 2 months later. His staff was overworked and rude. They had no patience for my physical disability or my CPTSD, and they expressed aggravation in place of compassion. I have had teeth pulled before and it hurt when he pulled my teeth, unlike the other times elsewhere. They did not stuff my gums with enough gause after the surgery, nor did they stitch me up, knowing that I take a lot of ibprofen, a blood thinner, everyday. I was bleeding out my mouth as he watched me walk out the door. I had blood pouring down my chin when I reentered the waiting room. I saw some visibly uncomfortable people in the waiting room reacting to what was happening to me. We asked the receptionist for gause and she gave us napkins... we asked again for gause. It is a good thing that I do not have an aversion to blood because I was bleeding A LOT in the bathroom, alone. I had to change… my gause 3 times in the bathroom because they kept instantly soaking. I had two teeth pulled. By the time I was at the curb out of the building, my lips were no longer numb. By the time I was down the road my jaw was ACHING SEVERELY. I still needed to get to Portage, to my pharmacy for pain meds. It was an extremely terrible experience. I have been to 2 other oral surgeons and everything was fine. This guy is dead in the eyes, like a sociopath. Beware.

Dr. Hearn and Dr. Ostrowski worked as a team and recently placed two implants in my lower left molar area. I was missing two next to each other. They both were very professional and very in knowledgeable about impant surgery and did an amazing job! I was very impressed with their team work! I was told by another surgeon from the same practice that I would need bone grafting before implants could be placed. Dr. Hearn felt that I had plenty of bone without an expensive graft! I opted to have Dr. Hearn and Dr. Ostrowski place the implants for nearly HALF the price and HALF the time that the other Doctor quoted me! I'm a very happy patient! Implants are the way to go!

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed. Almost two weeks after the surgery I still have horrible pain in my left jaw. The left side of my head feels like one of the worst head aches I have ever had. I have called twice asking if Dr. Hearn could take a few minutes to check and make sure everything is alright and healing. Both times the receptionist told me I was fine and it was normal. That's not ok. If a patient calls and is concerned they should be able to make an appointment. It infuriates me that a receptionist calls the shots and tells you if you need to see a doctor or not!!!!!! Totally unprofessional and rude!! Also there was no follow up appointment. After care in this office is non existent!

Both Dr. Hearn and the staff was rude and demeaning. Dr. Hearn was incredibly arrogant, paid absolutely no attention to my needs and was shoving paperwork in my face immediately to sign away all liability. I left immediately upon his rude and demeaning answers to my questions and I have no intention of returning.

Dr. Hearn has horrible bedside manner along with his staff. Very arrogant and acts as if he is above everyone. I would like to add that he only rents office space from family dentistry . This review does not reflect on Family Dentistry what do ever.
