Dr. Matthew Charles Johnson, MD

He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. While attending SIU School of Medicine, he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Johnson completed a one year internship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as well. After completing his residency, Dr. Johnson practiced in Central Illinois prior to joining Hauser-Ross Eye Institute. Dr. Johnson practices comprehensive ophthalmology. He specializes in refractive cataract surgery utilizing femtosecond laser and advanced technology intraocular lenses as well as …traditional cataract surgery. He is up to date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies. He also specializes in both microinvasive glaucoma surgery and LASIK surgery. Dr. Johnson is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
