When I broke my humerus, the hospital physician told me I would need to wait a week, to give my bone the opportunity to realign itself. After that, a plate would be placed on each side of the bone, at the point of the break, and the plates would be held in place with screws. Then came Dr. Kergosien! My break was close to my shoulder and you could actually see the bone pushing my skin up. He drill all the way down the center of my humerus, almost to my elbow. He then inserted a titanium rod and pins at each end. He could have gone the way the other doctor suggested and charged the same. He chose to do what was best for me, but it was a longer, more tedious procedure for him. Other than my small, pretty scar you would never know I ever had anything wrong with my arm. It is stronger than before and no metal plates! I call it my bionic arm! I’m sixty-nine years old and recently moved ten hours away from him, but if I ever break another bone, I will travel that ten hours to have Dr.… Kergosien take care of it.
