Dr. Matthew Robert Lasala, MD

I went to Dr. Lasala because a friend was seeing him and thought he was good. My experience was just the opposite and I cannot recommend him at all. When I would go in for my annual physical, he had to re-educate himself on all of my history while I was sitting there, as though I was a patient who was seeing him for the first time. Acts like he could care less about you as a person. I have had a number of primary care doctors over the years and he would definitely rank among the worst I have ever seen.

Waste of time. I was anxious about a possible condition and he condescendingly asked me what I wanted him to do. He didn’t listen, offered unhelpful opinions, and just referred me on. Chewed gum the whole time. Would never see him again or recommend him.

Dr. LaSala and his team of professionals have cared for my husband for over a decade. My husband’s cancer was detected early enough because of Dr. LaSala’s care and knowledge. He referred him to a specialist and my husband is a cancer survivor. Dr. LaSala is also our adult son’s doctor, our son will graduate from nursing school this spring and knows the value of an excellent doctor. Yes, direct, factual and no nonsense are also part of Dr. LaSala. Wish we had him here on the coast, where we’ve moved to after retiring

I would definitely not recommend Dr. Lasala. He is very ego-driven and won't consult with other doctors, even when my medical condition made it necessary. Getting a referral from him for a specialist who could help me was almost impossible. His nurse is horrible: rude, curt and unempathetic. I was scolded for reading my lab results that were posted in my patient portal and told they aren't for me to see. He also gave me ignorant and uninformed medical advice that went against a CDC recommendation...which I had to point out to him! If you want a dr who is your advocate and believes in collaborative care, go elsewhere!

They never answer their phones. You are lucky if you get a return call with in a week and WOW so glad they can speak to people the way they do. What a way to run a clinic

Doctor La Sala spent six minutes with me and was only interested in prescribing another medicine that may add to my current side effects. Didn't ask me about my list of serious complications that include pain management. Only interested in moving on to next appointment. Appointment was a waste of time. Asking for my money back and requesting a new primary care physician. Unless you like gambling with your healthcare, go elsewhere.

They got that vibe after just one visit.... I've been seeing him for the last year and they were right on the money. He seems nice right off the bat, but he is rushed, can get snippy, doesn't like answering questions, is very clinical, and god are those patient rooms horrible. It's like a little tomb. His office staff has been so incredibly horrible, to both my husband and myself on totally separate occasions. (I've also had run-ins with some other departments at BMC that are equally negative...this place in general is borderline crusty and the harried, disgruntled look abounds). Would not recommend. Go find a private practice.

In my opinion he was just a "technician" and showed irritability when I asked him a question (which I had written on the office form which had been mailed to me). It was a very brief appointment and for a first-time appt., that was not appropriate in my eyes (and I have a medical background). Never went back to him after that initial visit nor did my husband because he was equally unsatisfied.

I would recommend Dr. Lasala to anyone and everyone. I'm not usually comfortable with Drs,but I enjoy going to see him. He is a very caring person.
