Dr. Matthew Miller, MD

Dr. Miller is an excellent doctor and diagnostician. I completely trust him and all medical advice he imparts. He is soft spoken and has a dry sense of humor which is probably why some people say he has sub-par bedside manner. I highly recommend him and hope that he continues to practice for decades to come.

My first encounter with Dr. Miller was a complete fail. I'm generally healthy and simply went in for check-up. This guy is incredibly condescending and had zero bedside manner. I am giving him one more shot and hopefully things change but his attitude was horrific.

He combines a pompous attitude with a mixture of disinterest and impatience. Never again.

I am rating Dr. Miller on the basis of his medical competence and knowledge here, as I feel his bedside manner could use some improvement. Maybe he is just not aware of how he comes across or he has been overscheduled with too many patients by the front desk though - who knows? I saw him once at Penn Medicine two years ago for bronchitis when the doc I had been assigned to as a new PT at the time was unavailable. Dr. Miller quickly assessed my condition and put me on the road to a much faster recovery than I thought was possible - without much bedside manner, but he was certainly not rude, just more relaxed in his demeanor. I didn't particularly care at the time though - I was too sick and he was good, VERY GOOD. On the basis of that experience, I ended up selecting him as my primary care doctor later on when my insurance changed and my spouse also became a patient at this practice. In just 2 short years however, when I went in for an annual physical, I noticed he seemed to have… changed. He's still a super smart doc and zeroes right in on what he knows you need, but he was very impersonal and clinical, almost curt. I assumed he was just having an annoying frustrating day and I forgive him for that. I do wish he would not act like he can't stand his job or his patients though - his manner shuts you down. Regardless, I still believe he's really an above average super intelligent guy and an extremely competent doctor one of the best I have ever been seen by .

I found Dr Miller to be very considerate in his analysis and diagnosis. He is sensible in his approach and in follow up visits found that his recollection of our conversations and my symptoms to be very complete and accurate. I also appreciated his reluctance to turn to prescriptions as an easy solution and instead directed me to a healthier lifestyle. I highly recommend Dr. Miller.

Due to this visit, I have switched back to my former PCP. For starters I had to wait extremely long to be seen for my scheduled visit. When I finally got in the room, I had to deal with an inexperienced intern, whom made me feel uncomfortable. When Dr. Miller finally entered the room for my visit he didnt spend was time with me and seemed to be put off by my questions. This guy has alot to learn about dr/patient interaction. I will never visit him again for care.
