Dr. Matthew Robert Monsein, MD

If you haven’t looked at your medical chart check out the mean things he says in your visit notes. Like “I don’t know why this patient is even here” treated me like a drug addict (common theme in reviews). Then he called something I did “bizarre” and remarked about my odd behaviors. What thus jerk might not realize is notes like that influence the opinions of other doctors and can negatively affect future care. He really needs to retire or maybe get a job as a debt collector where his crappy attitude would at least be expected.

It is now 8 months since finishing the Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program and I am grateful everyday for what is has done for me. After many years of trying to find answers and treatments for my condition, this program has provided me with MANY tools to deal with my pain. The two most important have become learning to accept my situation and reducing my fear of re-engaging in life. It's not perfect of course, but with each day I am more and more confident in my ability to live a good life. Thank you Dr Monsein and Staff. You are my angels.

This person is a fraud, they will treat you like an addict and his program will take credit for things they do not do. He works for the work comp insurance companies. He will throw you under a bus the second he has the chance, don't waste your time. He has caused me more pain than helped me with pain, by not listning, or simply not caring enough..his pain program is a fraud, set up to help the insurance companies, and not the patient. Thank goodness I did not let this idiot have a say in my medical condition

Horrible Doctor, treated me like a heroin addict and knew absolutely nothing about me or my history. He came into my hospital room after my second spine surgery and within 30 seconds gave me his card and told me to come see him and that I just needed to get off the pain meds. I've been told my back is only going to get worse and I will have to be on pain medication the rest of my life. When I run into judgmental people like he is I wish so badly I could make him feel and live with my chronic pain for the rest of his life. I get SO TIRED of being lumped in with people abusing the system. I have always followed the rules and try to take less medication than prescribed if possible. I ripped his card up as soon as he left. I wish I would've had the courage to say something at the time....What a JERK!

This doctor is the biggest jerk I have ever met. He has no compassion for patients and his diagnosing skills are very poor.

Liar for hire. Does not care about patient but will say what Insurance company wants to hear even at the expense and pain of patient.

Very insightful at seeing the complex picture that makes up a chronic pain/substance abuse patient. He has seen it all and knows the path out of the woods. Some might take umbrage at his "tough Love" approach, but he really helped me and my daughter.

i was diagnosed with rsd by three drs and none of them knew much about it but monsein did he took very good care of me.i have since moved to iowa the care here is terrible i miss this dr very much
