Matthew Pepper was born and raised in the Detroit suburbs. He left the cold and snowy north to do his undergraduate work at Duke University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with degrees in biomedical enginering and electrical engineering in 2003. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 2007. He then returned to Duke to complete his pediatrics residency.

Dr. Pepper enjoys cooking, running, and cheering for the Duke Blue Devils. His fiancee, Jessica, is working on her PhD in Public Health at UNC.
