Dr. Matthew Henry Rosa

Dr Rosa is my analyst. I have been his patient for many years and I noticed this last review calling him hostile. I can’t imagine who would say this as I am not sure, but I dont think he has been taking new patients for a number of years though I could be wrong about that. Regarding being hostile, I can’t count how many times I’ve felt hostile In analysis, but that’s the point of analysis. Before I saw him all of my hostile feelings went nowhere. I learned that I could talk through my hostility with him rather than destroying my life by taking it out on the people I love. And he for one can certainly take it! I feel sorry for whoever left that last review. Clearly they don’t understand that analysis is about working through painful feelings. People looking to just have a psychiatrist precribe medication and reassure you that you’re the victim of everyone else’s abusr probably should look elsewhere. I ve certainly had many friends who think thst way and they have really gotten… no-where psychologically. Anyway, it takes a lot of time, commitment and sacrifice to get better. That’s what analysis with Dr Rosa has tought me. Period.

Commentary

He got very upset with me because I saw him for about 6 months. I told him I was upset with him. He took it as an attack but I was just trying to say how I felt. Not at all what I expected based on reviews. I have seen quite a few psychiatrists and psychologists over the last 20 years. Steer clear of this one.

I've been with Dr. Rosa for years. Psychotherapy is not easy but having stuck with it I can say he has truly helped me get myself better.

He made me worse. Wish I had not seen him.

Empathic, professional, good boundaries and very knowledgeable: an exceptional analyst.

He has been a great help to me. He is brilliant and has a great way of explaining things. I would highly recommend Dr. Rosa

The staff were rude and unhelpful and I was sent all over the building to find him. This was a while back, so maybe they have improved. He is very punctual BUT that is because he will literally cut you off in the middle of something he ASKED you to tell him while you are sobbing to say time is up and he expects you to get your butt up and get out right away. So although by default he spends time with you, he values his ten minutes in between far more than his patients and will make no exceptions, whether you have a question about a medication (next time! he said) or are reliving a traumatic experience he encouraged you to share. He will not give you one extra minute no matter what. That tells me he does not care and he seemed invasive and untactful with some questions as well. I would not recommend him at all. Shame because there's basically nobody else that does therapy and meds around here.
