Dr. Matthew Kent Wells

Needs to go back to medical school to learn how to diagnose a stroke. Completely missed the mark.

I don’t know what is wrong with the majority of the reviews on here, but in my experience with him, and dealing with lots of people with these “common” complaints, he is a terrific doctor and what everyone needs to understand is that an emergency room is just that... for real emergencies.... not your chronic pain or conditions you are already diagnosed with and have medications which half the people complaining probably do not follow their regimen appropriately or compliant with medications or lifestyle choices. ER doctors deal with real emergencies and in between those they are busy trying to sift through the chronic malingering patients that just have normal symptoms of either being an alcoholic who won’t put down the bottle, and by the way alcohol stays in your system far longer than “last night” which was probably this morning. People with rashes should probably just go to their primary doctor for a referral or ....wait for it... call and get an appointment with a dermatologist (a… skin doctor) and get that rash settled in a n environment appropriate for just that. Emergencies mean life or death.... not my achy joints, or son likes his beer and steering wheels, or my skin hurts. More like my arm is barely hanging on, my heart hurts for reals, I can’t breath for real, I am dying for real, or hey I am unresponsive because I am for real. Thank you all for reviewing my Expedia very and treatment received because what he does is his job and last I checked bedside manner should not come in the way of telling someone they are not dying for real and they are simple having a reaction that is normal for their condition.

Dr Wells my son had a neck injury and saw you in the Emergency room yesterday I only hope for your sake your diagnosis was correct you did a blood alcohol on him and said he was drunk granted he had drank the night before but he was not drunk my son drinks way to much he has a problem but he does not drink when he is working I can not understand why you did a blood alchol to begin with he did not smell or act like a drunk I have been a nurse longer than you been on this earth and believe me you need to leave your short man God syndrome at home and learn a little bed side manner I sincerely hope you never have a family member with an alcoholic or drug diease because you certainly do not know how to deal with it maybe if doctors like you ever got really sick and had to be the patient you learn compassion but if you ever get sick or have a family member sick as angry as I am at you I hope you have a better Dr than you are learn to respect your patients Dr Wells lose you God syndrome what… goes around comes around one day you may be the one with a problem or a close family member

I saw Dr. Wells in the ER. I have had to come to the hospital several times for the same issues regarding my painful fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis and other horrible conditions. Unfortunately, I was given no type of true care. I was given a referral and talked to like I came to the hospital for pain medications. On my discharge paperwork, it states the diagnosis as "chronic pain" as well as "drug-seeking behavior". I am extremely upset because he never offered me any real type of advice or acted like he wanted to truly know what was really going on or like he wanted to help me at all. I usually tell people that this ER is the only one I recommend, but if a doctor wants to treat people this badly, as he did me, than I would prefer NOT to be here. Sad, disheartening, and extremely disappointing. Leaving here in pain and wishing I just drove outside of the city to be seen at Chapel Hill or some where that I wasn't completely treated like a drug addict who has nothing better to do but… sit in the ER and complain for no reason.

Saw Dr. wells at the ER. He was very arrogant and misdiagnosed my condition. I had rash on my arms and back and numbness and pins and needles sensations in both arms and both legs since the prior evening. Dr Wells diagnosed me with an allergy to a supplement. I asked for blood work due to my Graves' disease and to rule out other possibilities for my feeling so sick. I was truly afraid to go home alone feeling as strange and weak as I did. Dr. Wells refused my blood test and sent me home with a prescription for Benadryl. Later when still feeling awful I went to a different hospital where they quickly drew blood and found a vitamin deficiency was to blame. Dr.Wells, I really hope your ego doesn't cause you to one day end up seriously hurting someone.
