Dr. Matthew T. Wiza, DO

I wish I had read the reviews before I selected him for my special needs daughter doctor. We have seen him 3 times and each time I hoped his demeanor would change. It didn’t!! He’s rude, abrasive & combative and he knows it. He told me he’s just direct and deal with it. He was unprepared answer our questions or even listen to them. When I question him on ANYTHING he try’s to talk over you. When he’s wrong which in 3 appointments he was been twice he makes you still feel like it’s you’re fault. I can’t believe with his amazingly poor personality and ability to even look at your file he’s still practicing. I have sent a complaint to RRH, Excellus and reviewed him on google. How is he still able to practice with his offensive, angry, superior, uncooperative, personality. This was the worst experience I’ve experience with my special needs daughter of 21. This third experience all happened because we needed Summer Camp forms completed which he said she needed a physical and he… didn’t take the time to see she already had a physical earlier.

I'll keep it short... stay away from this man. My mother and father were patients of his for a few years before I moved to Rochester and started joining them on appointments. They LOVED Dr. Wiza, but they never seemed to get better. But he is a trained medical professional, a DO, not MD, but still the Unity feels he's qualified. Issue at hand, my father fell and hit his head, and refused to go to the emergency room. "take me to Dr. Wiza instead". So off we went. Dr. Wiza did a VERY basic exam. No balance check, no checking to see if he had a concussion... and ruled it a possible case of anemia and sent him for blood work. yes, he was anemic. Iron pills prescribed. Fast forward 8 hours and my father can't walk straight or stand straight. Starts to slur his works... HE'S HAVING A STROKE. ER tests show the stroke was 24 hours old at least. Oh, and he had fractured a vertebrae in his neck. After months of rehab he recovered, we never returned to see Dr. Wiza. … Even nurses within the Unity system will only say "yes, you made the right choice for your father if you were unhappy with Dr. Wiza..." with a wink wink added Brought his medical records to an attorney and after a long study, we were told, "being a bad doctor is not always malpractice" STAY AWAY FROM MATTHEW WIZA.

This doctor has NO empathy at all, he is extremely verbally abusive, could care less if he leaves patient's in distress, just keeps telling you you must come in to his office, even if he has just seen you twice that week. You are charged for the office call but have not been given the help you need, each visit was for the same thing, does nothing each time, but continues to make you come in the office anyway when he has no intention of helping you and continues to make you think he will if you come in, just keeps making money on the office calls. I finally went to Emergency and was helped. Dr. Wiza had the audacity to yell at me because it cost him too much time of paper work from E.D. The first day I met him, he through 2 bottles of my pills across his desk, stating "I'm not going to fill these", left them for me to retrieve them like a dog. Another time, he threw my chart notes up in the air all over the place, one paper almost hit me in the eye, made me cry, I came to see him for… severe pain, again, nothing was done, he told me that we just don't get along. I had NEVER been disrespectful to him. He is extremely unprofessional !!!! I have left his practice and would advise anyone I know to not go to this doctor !! My husband was seeing him as well, could not stand the way he treated me and chose a new doctor. My husband had been congested for a quite a long while, Wiza ignored it. After seeing his new doctor, he said he is congested and doesn't like a sound he was hearing and sent him for a chest x-ray immediately, a lung tumor was found, if Wiza would have been more through, it may have been found about a year earlier. This doctor is NOT through at all ! I pray for all his present patient's, good luck to them.

If I could give Dr. Wiza 0 stars, I would. After only seeing his PAs for months and finally having an appointment with him for an ongoing issue, I was completely disappointed. I was hoping for a little compassion since his PA, Lorrie, whom I saw about 4 times, was being so rude and anything but helpful (his PA, Brenda, is amazing and very nice!) only to receive even worse treatment from him. I have been suffering from stomach pains, headaches, and heart problems for 2 months and he didn't offer ANY solution. He was extremely curt, barely looked at me, and the way he was speaking was just incredibly rude. He gave off the impression that he doesn't have time for me and that whatever I have doesn't matter. The whole appointment was just terrible. At then end, when he gave me a follow up, I asked if I would be seeing him or a PA and he brashly said, "I don't know, I don't know. I'm really busy!" while shaking his head and frowning. I then asked the nurses before leaving who my follow up… would be and she confirmed that it was with Dr. Wiza. Amazing. I don't know if it's a race thing, if he's selective with the patients he wants to be nice with, or if it's entirely random and based on what mood he is in. In short, Wiza is rude, ill-mannered, unsympathetic, curt, unfriendly, and much too "busy" for a patent. The whole clinic, except for Brenda, is terrible. I'm currently searching for a new doctor.

New to the area, needed a primary. This was my first visit at which I needed to cover 3 issues. It was like chatting with a very knowledgeable and helpful friend who paid attention to my somewhat complex medical history and came up with things I (or any other doc) had not considered. Off to a good start, and so glad to have found someone I feel so comfortable with.

Dr Wiza is very rude and couldnt care less about wether your sick or not. The letters MD after his name have gone to his head. He dosnt like to treat illness with anything more then telling you to work through it. No compassion whats so ever and the office staff seam like they are always angry, they are also very rude the famous saying in that office by the nurses and docters is "If you dont like it go some where else" which I know alot of people are taking that advice gladly.

Dr. Wiza listens to my concerns and explains in detail his diagnosis and any medication he determines I should be on. He can sometimes come across as aloof, but he is very knowledgeable and in reality truly cares about me as a patient.
