Dr Maureen Angela Chung

Firstly, I had originally opted for a prosthestetic after a mastectomy, but the Dr made me second guess my decision. The reconstruction looks worse than nothing and I can't afford to have a lot of "little tweaks" as they like to call them. I had an appt in 2017 that was cancelled and I followed up three times since for an appt. and every response was we'll get back to you. Nothing! I will seek a new surgeon when I need one. Very disappointing!

There are much, much better doctors in this region. Before going with this doctor get a second opinion. I was so very lucky to have a friend direct me to a better doctor in the area before undergoing bilateral mastectomy with this one. The other doctor thought that would have been "crazy.' So, so scary to have medical people messing with your head when you are upset and frightened. This doctor pushes you to make decisions with a sense of urgency. You do not need to make an immediate decision!! Take time to consider other opinions. Drastic surgery has a lifetime of consequences.

I went to Dr. CHung for a second opinion. I am still not sure and waiting more results. The St. Johns breast ward is like a hotel..quiet and comforting. I felt very well taken care of while there. My only glitch is the finaance people breathing down your neck when you arrive. Trying to fill out medical paperwork and being patted down for a credit card the moment you walk in is off putting. Dr. Chung was not in a rush, told me her thoughts, and had a sense of humor. I did not see the robot..she also understood my issues with financing and was not into getting more tests than needed. I like her and was surprised with the other reviews.

Definetley not JWC's new shing star. Dr. seemed way too obsessive and extreme about surgical treatment. Of course she makes more money doing a double mastectomy than a single lumpectomy. Breast cancer is devasating enought without losing both breasts when a lumpectomy is all you needed. If you don't want to be Chung's next science project go the other Drs on staff. Perhaps this Dr should go back to 11th grade and discect cats instead of women.

Run from this Doctor. She acts sweet and concerned but her manner is bossy. She will suggest profilactive masectomies with out a brca test. Does not explain surgery truthfully. She will sugar coat the procedure while a patient is deciding what treatment is best. Totaly not upfront. She should go back to her old job.

Get a few opinions before you have surgery with this robotic, cut and dry doctor. She told me a needed to have a mastectomy because I had dcis and didn't want to go in again to get clear margins. I thought that was my only option so I had the surgery. After I had the surgery I was very upset to find out she cut the nipple out too without telling me she was. That was benign and there was such a small amount a cells that were precancer I was told by 3 other doctors after the fact that radiation would have taken car of the cells. She told me the mastectomy was a recommondation and her suggestion but I didn't want to have one. She never told me I had other options. She said it would'nt look right I could have care less about having a dent in my breast or even a partial mastectomy, but to take off the whole breast and the nipple was overkill. To make things worst she cut me the way doctors did ten years ago. Now doctors can do a mastectomy with two or three samll hidden incisions… and can preserve the main nerves in the breast. She hacked me up so bad there was no chance a a decent reconstruction. I am glad the cancer is gone but I could have kept the breast. She is to blunt and too cold hearted to be working with cancer patients. Get another opinion before she get your breast needlessly.

Please get a few more opinions before having this doctor take your breasts. My wife had a small breast cancer with dcis. Dr. Chung told her she couldn't save the breast because she didn't get clear margins. My wife was very distraught at the time and went along with whatever the doctor said. She also told my wife that most women have both breast removed so they will have a better result with reconstruction. So she did. We had a few consultations at other breast centers for follow up treatment. My wife was asked why she opted for a double mastectomy and her response was that the doctor told her she needed it. We were told that another small incision to get clear margins was all she needed along with radiation. My wife had both breast removed along with her nipples needlessly. Breast don't grow back. Now she is in a painful, costly reconstruction process. Dr. Chung pushes women into mastectomies when they don't need it. Don't let this happen to you. Not a team player with other… doctors either. An aggresive "One Man Show Doctor"

Although this Doctor's crudential are excellent, always seek a second opinion. After being diagnosised with DCIS she told me she couldn't save the breast. She also said most women removed both at once. After surgery I consulted with a few doctors as to follow-up treament. My case was put in front of 2 other tumor board. I was told I needed need to have a maastectomy and definetly should not of had the healthy one taken off. Now I have no breasts or nipples and not a shot at decent reconstruction. She reputation for unneccesary aggresive surgery is known. I suggest if you are in this position get 2 more opinions. I had other treatment options than just removing the breast.another incision, then radiation. breasts and nipples don't grow back. beware And wonder is it all about making money for yourself and the hospital??? My life will never be the same.
