Dr. Maurice Valcarenghi, MD

Horrible doctor. Filed an official complaint with Enloe but decided to post a review as a I was disturbed to see only people with positive things to say have come forward. Unfortunately I found out after my experience that two women I know had him present for their births and also had adverse experiences. My experience was that during labor when my son’s head was crowning Dr.Valcarenghi turned to my husband and said, “Want to know what an episiotomy looks like?” He then produced a pair of scissors and cut. I had had an epidural and could not see where he had cut because of the angel I was positioned in and truly believed that he gave me an episiotomy without my consent. I was so scared and so distracted from the beautiful life I was bringing into the world. My husband then turned to me and told me, “don’t worry he just cut the paper.” Dr.Val in known for having in appropriate humor but this was in know way funny. There is more the story about his disturbing behavior but I don’t… want to write an essay in a review. I did my due-diligence and reported his actions to the hospital (though I don’t know if that actually did anything) but I thought I should post here in case someone is looking for an OB and like me is only seeing positive reviews. I am not an overly sensitive person but this man is disturbed and has been in the field so long that I don’t know if he just doesn’t care or has become accustomed to getting away with negligent behavior. Anyhow thought I would post here as I feel I need to warn other mothers to be.

Dr val is an amazing Dr. And person in general! I am so glad he was my Dr, and he was there to deliver my son.. I am most definitely hoping he will be able to deliver my next child!

Dr. Valcarenghi was neglectful in my obstetrical care and disrespectful to me. He shows little interest in the actual health of patients and treated me like a heard animal or just a few more hours toward a paycheck. After two months with him supervising my pregnancy and telling me that everything was fine I was Hospitalized with an acute kidney infection which was very close to taking my life or that of my baby. This was a result of a bladder infection that the Dr. knew about but failed to appropriately monitor and treat. He did not show up to my follow-up appointment after my four day stay in the hospital. In my first visit, while discussing rhogam shots, Dr. Val suggested that I was promiscuous and my saying that he did not trust that the father of my baby was who I said it was. He also has no concept of nutrition and places no value on the value of exercise to overall health. His Staff is unfriendly and irresponsible. The receptionist purposely scheduled my ultrasound in in a… town two hours away when we have a great facility twenty minutes away in Paradise. After talking to the ultrasound tech at the Paradise facility, I found out that Dr. Val does not refer to them anymore because that tech had informed some unfortunate parents of a fatal birth defect that the doctor had not told them about. His Nurse tried to call me and when I didn't return the call in under 24 hours broke the law by sharing my confidential medical information with my mother. When I confronted the woman, she was very defensive and rude and did not offer so much as an apology. She said that she was going on vacation five days later an was trying to get work stuff out of the way. I don't feel that any woman is safe under the care of Maurice Valcarenghi and would not recommend him to anyone.
