Dr. Maurizio Fava, MD

Although Dr. Fava has reduced his clinical practice because of his administrative duties as Vice Chair of Psychiatry at Mass General Hospital, he is still one of the best doctors that I have ever seen in my extensive experiences as a patient. He is brilliant and is one of the world's leaders in the area of depressive disorders. He is also one of the nicest and kindest person that I know. He has a very gentle manner as well as a terrific sense of humor. His clinical observations always hit the mark. His manner is professional but not cold. His knowledge of the literature and current research into mood disorders is remarkable for its breadth. Although it is difficult to get an appointment with him because of his reduced clinical activity and because of his many responsibilities, twenty minutes with him is comparable to an hour with a doctor who is less knowledgable. He may make you wait 10 to 20 minutes, but he always gives you your full time even when he takes you late. His… administrative assistant Marge is a wonder also. She is extremely pleasant, competent, and accessible. She will go out of her way to help you. My experiences with Dr. Fava and his staff rank a four - I would go higher if your scale had a higher number.
