My 89 year old mother entered an Assisted Living Facility over two years ago. She has dementia and, at first, my sisters and I struggled to keep her appointments with her previous PCP.....then we met Dr. May! Dr. May sees my mother in her own bedroom, she listens carefully to what my mother has to say and what we have to say. She is understanding and extremely responsive and sees the whole human package that my mother is....Her bedside manner is exceptional and she relates to my mom and to us in such a warm & friendly, yet professional fashion. An example would be that my mother sustained a spiral fracture of her left femur which precipitated her need for Assisted Living in 2016. She was struggling with anxiety, depression and confusion, yet I could not get her previous PCP to address these serious and extremely upsetting issues. Dr. May started seeing her and in addition to simply writing a prescription, she made a couple of excellent suggestions to help both us and my mother deal… with the changes/challenges that were present and those that are to come. My mother blossomed as a result! She was as close to her old self as humanly possible. Dr. May also caught a tiny pre-cancerous spot on my mother's face and we had it removed! There are many other examples too. If I notice something I can either call her service or leave a message with the nursing staff at the facility as she visits regularly. If I am not present when she sees my mother, Dr. May will follow up with a phone call to me (if there are any changes or recommendations to be made) as my mother cannot remember. Dr. May is thorough, thoughtful and very approachable, but she is also one of the nicest, warmest human beings I know. My mother loves her, my sisters and I love her and I only wish my mother could have started seeing her years ago!

Dr. May Awkal is an exceptional and experienced primary care doctor who specializes in providing direct care of her geriatric patients within their very own assisted living facilities. Our family has directly experienced Dr. May's extensive medical knowledge, level of commitment and passion regarding the individual health needs of our elderly Father. Dr. May's communication skills, ease of contact, and prompt attention to any of Dad's immediate and long term health needs and concerns is amazing. This is so very evident and comforting to our entire family. Dr. May is truly an exemplary model for other medical professionals to follow and achieve!

Dr. Awkal cared for our Mother for the past few years during her residency at a Dementia/Alzheimer's Facility. She was an outstanding caring and supportive Physician who was attentive to her immediate needs. As our Mom's dementia condition began to decline, Dr. Awkal advocated best options of management of care at the Dementia facility. She met with us numerous times and advocated for our Mom regarding need for specific health care services and visiting nurse care. As our Mom's end stage of life occurred, Dr. Awkal was compassionate and sensitive to assisting her transition to a skilled nursing home and hospice services. She reached out to us and expressed genuine empathy and understanding of Mom's condition and eventual decline. Both my brother and I were grateful for her attentive and professional care of our Mom. Dr. May has been my mother's primary care physician at her assisted living facility for about 2 years. My dad recently transitioned to Assisted Living and Dr. Awkal is his doctor. I sat in on his appointment and witnessed a patient-focused provider who listened to my dad and made him feel comfortable. She was cheerful, knowledgeable and spent quite a bit of time with him. He really connected with her. My dad does not like to see doctors however he was very engaged with Dr. Awkal. Dr Awkal is an excellent primary care Physician who has been caring for my mother for multiple years now. She travels to my fathers residence at an assisted living facility in Agawam. She is extremely thorough and knowledgeable in her field. She cares very much for my mother and her other patients.
