The worst Dr. she is rude uncaring and she talks down to you. Save time and get another Dr.

I wanted to follow up with my review that I left for Dr. Maya where I actually left her office due to her rude and unprofessional behavior. I came to her with severe pelvic pain and my ultrasound pictures in hand. She looked at the pics, said they showed nothing and said there was nothing wrong with me and then in a rude tone said, “what do you want me to do for you?” When I requested a specialist, she condescendingly explained, “I am a specialist. I specialize in obgyn.” What I was actually referring to was a pelvic pain and endo specialist since it is not usual practice for obgyns to get trained in endo excision unless they specially seek out this training. But, Dr. Maya was so into herself that she thought she knew everything and would talk over me. I left her office in tears and told her she shouldn’t be in practice. I went back to my PCP, and asked her for help. My pcp actually dealt with a similar issue and Immediately referred me to UCSF to see endo specialist, Dr.… Opoku-Anane. Dr O-A is an obgyn who doesn’t spend her time delivering babies, but rather does nothing but consultations for endo/fibroid/pelvic pain and excision surgeries. She’s booked months out. She did her fellowship under one of the top 5 endo doctors in the world. Despite having CAT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds and pelvic exams, which showed nothing, an exploratory laparoscopic surgery resulted in me having four panels of endo excised from my pelvis, ablation of adenomyosis glomerularations from uterus, lysis performed to untangle my left ovary from scar tissue and lysis performed to separate my uterus from my bladder, which became adhered from scar tissue left behind by endo, a cystoscopy with hydrodistension which showed I had disease in my bladder, a hysteroscopy, and a HSG to clear my left tube since I was also having trouble getting pregnant. My point is, had I been a patient who was meek and didn’t know how to advocate for myself, I would have settled for Dr. Maya’s word as the ultimate last say and fact. Luckily, I didn’t. Thank goodness for my PCP who knew my symptoms weren’t fake and knew better than to solely rely on an ultrasound and believed her patient. I hope Dr. Maya has since become a better doctor who actually listens to her patients by putting her ego to the side. By the way, the day I saw her, she had two patients who were sick from pain from getting IUDs and she didn’t seem very sympathetic about their pain. So glad I got the help I needed.

Rude and condescending. I actually walked out of my appointment.
