Dr. Mayra G Oberto-Medina, DO

Issues have all been resolved to my satisfaction. I decided to go back and see her again as she had really helped me a lot. I booked an appointment and she was quite gracious. Happy Ending!

Came to my appt with Dr Oberto-Medina late as I went to the wrong Medical Center. Thought I would check in, explain and see if they could work me in or maybe I would need to book a new appt. Much to my shock, some woman came out with a letter saying Dr Medina refused to see me anymore at all because I was a NO SHOW. On 8/7 and the day I was standing there! She said I had to find another provider. I was stunned. Never been treated this way by ANY Medical Center or Doctor. I could not speak with Clinic Manager who was there! She sent a phone number out of some woman I could call, but when I did call, it was the voice mail of some man named Fritz! When home I called the appt. Line and they told me I had cancelled the 8/7 appt on 8/6! So Dr Medina dumped me on wrong info and because I was late. I made a mistake & went to the wrong place. I am 70 and last time I saw her was 14 months ago! OFF WITH MY HEAD!!

Dr. Oberto-Medina has a calm demeanor about her. But she doesn't seem to actually listen to what is being said to her. I gave her the same information multiple times the few times I saw her. This is frustrating, because I'm laying out all the background of my medical history, and she's just looking away and "saying" .... "mmm, that is puzzling." She changed her mind every time I saw her as to my supposed diagnosis. First it was this, then it was that, then it was back to this again, then back to that again. I will not go back to this doctor. I can't believe it's so hard to find a good rheumatologist in the Twin Cities.

It's not easy finding a new Rheumatologist doctor you can trust and feel comfortable with. This doctor is not any of thoughs things. In fact she exactly the opposite. I have wasted 9 months on this doctor! I have seen her 3 times now and well strike 3 she's out! Dr. Oberto Medina refers to her patients as a customer according what I read in her reviews. Well that is exactly the way I feel with her when I visit with her. A customer and not a patient. Well I'm not buying from her! I need a doctor who I can trust and know who will listen to me. She asks me questions that has nothing to do with my conditions. She has no patience. She assumes this is the best way to do something instead of taking time to talk it with me. She keeps screwing with my medications. When my old Rheumatologist had and has me all straightened out on the correct medications and the right dosages. I am doing well with what my old Rheumatologist has setup for me. If I'm doing good why keep changing it!? I… don't really appreciate someone snooping into my social life either. Isn't a doctor supposed to be there to treat you for your illnesses and make you feel you can trust them. A doctor and patient relationship. Not like an employer and employee or seller and buyer relationship! That wrong! Do yourself a favor and don't see this doctor. I would rate Dr. Oberto Medina at a 2.5 stars.

Dr Medina is a very knowledgeable doctor with wonderful "bedside manners " , she always takes the time to fully answer questions. She has also mailed me additional after our visits. She uncovered chronic issues I had where other doctors failed to do so and as a result I feel much better following her treatment.

Horrible experience.

Dr. Oberto-Medina may be well educated in medicine, but she still needs lessons in communicating with her patients. In my three years as her patient, she always seemed irritated when my husband attended appointments with me. She was often downright rude and dismissive when we asked questions or brought up issues she had not asked us about. When one medication she had me take did not work she blamed my weight (which she knew about before she prescribed it). The last straw was when she told me I did not need to see her again for 4 months, but then 2 months later refused to provide a refill on a prescription unless I came in to see her again. I would not recommend her to anyone.

She has been my doctor of choice for my fibromyalgia for quite a few years and has helped me tremendously. She has always been very accomodating for my special situation. I highly reccomend her especially for RA and Fibro.

I believe she padded the bill in ordering extra tests that had nothing to do with what I was being tested for when I specifically asked to be tested for one disorder.

I highly recommend her. She is very educated and really knows what she is talking about. I trust her facts and if she makes a recommendation I will try it, if it doesn't work her and I discuss it together and are both open to trying other options. She works for the patient and really cares, your not just a number or a client, but a real person.
