If you are lgbtqia+ and seeking mental health services, this is not the place or provider for you. I asked if she would write a referral letter for gender affirming surgery as my insurance provider requires letters from two mental health professionals. Her services include "coordination with your primary care physician and referral to community based services as appropriate." In our conversation, I assured her that I am seeking this care because it is directly related to my wellbeing. I read through the referral letter expectations, which specifically ask for a mental health professional who has an evaluative role. McKenzie refused, asserting that she doesn't do things like that and doesn't know anything about it. I am crushed and deeply regret putting my trust, time and money toward someone so unprofessional, transphobic and soulless.
