Dr. Meenakshi Vemuri, MD

Absolutely horrible. Never returns calls. Misses appointments and doesn’t not fill prescriptions on time. Giving her a week to get the prescription ordered still doesn’t get it done. Made a diagnosis within 10 mins and was not willing to discuss any other possibilities. Stay away from this practitioner.

She has been my psychiatrist for over 10 years. She is caring and thoughtful in her advice and prescriptions

Had a first time appointment and fill out necessary paper work. 1 hour passes when I ask receptionist why it's taking so long. She looks dazed and says Mary is usually on time. She wasn't even in the building, so they supposedly texted her. Another 15 mins go by and no one comes out to tell us what's going on. Receptionist tells me is been very busy and the phone have been ringing all the time. The phones did not ring once while we were there, however two people came in because prescriptions were never sent to the pharmacy. I asked for the records to be destroyed and a refund. No apology, nothing...

Awful. Never gets back to my phone call and emails regardless of how many messages I leave. Orders blood work to be done, but when gets results never gets a hold of me or even makes an attempt to. I am currently have bad side affects from new medication she put me on, yet I can't get ahold of her or make appointment due to me moving. I am autistic, have chronic depression and anxiety etc! I need my medication to work and be able to get ahold of doctor! Poor poor poor, highly don't recommend ( especially for kids)

It’s quite sad when your doctor bases your care on things that are not relevant to what you are seeking help for. Time for a new doctor.

I have had no problems getting appointments and the office staff has been very helpful. Doctor Vemuri was attentive, thoughtful and I found her to be very kind. When we made a repeat appt for two months out, she realized that one of my prescriptions would expire in the interim and gave me a prescription in advance

Dr. Vemuri is very intelligent calm person that truly cares about her patients.

Like others have posted, getting a hold of her is very hit or miss. She has gotten back to me in a day or 2 but other times not at all even after I left messages. And this was for medication issues/questions/refills. This can be dangerous to children with mental health issues. However, I do find her diagnosis and medication choices to be sound. Our psychologist believes this to be true as well after referring other patients to her. She does not push high doses and likes to try small doses first and less meds if possible which I appreciate. Unfortunately child psychiatrists are hard to come by so we are sticking with her. But the unresponsiveness may cause me to switch.

I have to echo most of what others said. She is nice, but consistently keeps us waiting 30 mins or more. We usually have the first appointment of the day and see her walk into the office through the waiting room 30 minutes after our appointment time. If she can't get to work until 10:30, she should not make 10 am appointments. We've also had issues with her responding to refill requests. The only reason we stay with her is the long wait lists for other doctors and the fact that we only have to deal with her once every few months for check ins. If I had to do it over again I would definitely pick a different therapist.
