Dr. Meg Elizabeth Ryan, MD

This is not just the worst and most rude doctor I’ve ever seen, but she is genuinely one of the most unpleasant and unkind people I’ve ever encountered in my life. Do NOT schedule with Meg Ryan MD!

It was annual gyn appt. I was in pleasant mood. Dr asked me if I was exercising and then I said I know I need to get back into it. She said you are 10 lbs more than last year. I said I know. It’s my fault. I can do better. I was not interested in continuing the conversation because I know what to do to lose 15 lbs. Did not need a lecture. When I told her I’m good. Don’t worry. She looked at me like, “Yeah, right. Like you will try to lose the weight.” Not sure why she was so hung up on it. I left the appointment feeling bad about myself when I was in a perfect mood prior to seeing her. I then see all these similar reviews and wonder what her deal is.

I went to Dr. Ryan two days after I was assaulted to check for internal damage. While examining me, she began asking me if I have tried Weight Watchers or any type of diet. The rest of our appointment, she lectured me about my weight and my exercise routine. I returned to my car in tears- this was a scary appointment for me, already traumatized and in pain, and her lack of compassion and fixation on my weight was humiliating. I came back a year later for a pap smear and again, the majority of the appointment she chastised my weight and I again left in tears. I have never had a worse experience with a doctor.

My health records were transferred to Dr. Ryan when my doctor retired. During a recent visit for a consult she kept me waiting for an hour. Just as I was getting ready to leave she came into the room and didn't apologize for the wait; just said she was busy. She spent about 5 minutes with me and showed zero interest or compassion for my medical concerns. I had to ask her for next steps including a specialist and prompt her for a referral. Upon checkout I was given a bill for the 5 minutes and a print out for my condition that I could have pulled from the Internet. I question why someone with such a lack of empathy is in the medical profession. I do not recommend her and will never go back. Worth noting is I've never written a negative review about anyone, much less a doctor, yet want to prevent others from having a similar experience.

I had a routine Pap smear appointment with dr Ryan, I had no health concerns nor issues that needed to be discussed with her, I have a primary care physician, but it was as though she just had to find something to pick apart, something to drone on about. She started asking me about my past history of smoking, I told her that I had quit but indeed it had been a struggle. I just received my bill and not only did she charge over $400.00 for the visit, but she also added a charge of $35.00 for “smoking cessation counseling” I WENT FOR A PAP SMEAR!!! I pay a fortune every month for my health insurance, and Doctors like her who pad their bills is one of the reasons why. Find another gynecologist

I was recommended by my GYN doctor who just retired, but, Dr. Ryan , had no interest on a new patient, the visit lasted hardly 5 to 8 minutes including the exam.

This was the most heart breaking and worst experience I have ever had with a doctor or office. I went to dr Meg Ryan feeling awful and knowing something was wrong with my body. We had been trying to get pregnant for over a year and I let her know that it was a possibility. She immediately dismissed me, i had to ask for a test to which she said the urine test was negative. I had extreme nausea and bloating and it was uncomfortable and she basically just told me I was fat and gave me a body mass index as care instructions. I asked for a referral to another doctor as I was humiliated that she would have the front desk explain that I needed to see a nutritionist and that she was a gyn and “couldn’t help me”. The new doctor quickly identified that I was pregnant but by sending out a blood test and giving me an ultrasound because she had empathy for the symptoms I was experiencing. I found out about a baby that I had been trying for for over a year by being shamed into going to another… doctor who would take the time to listen to me. All of this to say that I left Fairfax gyn in tears, contacted the office manager who just made excuses for the doctor and refused to give me my records. I was so hurt and felt judged and dismissed when this is supposed to be a happy time for my family. It is disgusting that a doctor who is supposed to be there for you when you are having problems with your body would have such a lack of empathy, concern, or patient care. Purvia would be smart to get rid of her as the reviewers on google seem to have similar experiences. I hope this review helps someone else as I have been seeing this doctor for the last 3 years and was never even told that once I got pregnant she would send me to another doctor. In my opinion, if an obgyn can’t even determine you’re pregnant by symptoms then you would be making a mistake by trusting her with even more complex issues with your body.

Dr. Ryan is awful!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. She has poor bedside manner and seems as though she is just going through the motions and standard speech. I have been to her twice and both times she was very fixated on my weight. There was no tact in how she talked to me. She lacked compassion and empathy. In addition she talked the whole time and I had to interrupt her to ask a question. She would not prescribe birth control pills to me because of my smoking history (I am in a cessation plan now). I asked what I could do for birth control and she said just use condoms. Seriously!!?? I was dumb founded. I have never been in tears after a doctors appointment, but today was my first time. I could not stop crying from her abruptness and insensitivity. The office staff were very attentive and nice. The office manager was nice as well and tried to smooth things over and make it right. Unfortunately, there is nothing that could have been undone from the awful experience. … Never go to Dr Ryan! She is a nightmare!

Office is managed poorly. Dr. lets everybody else handle the work of explaining about your problem. I would not go back to that office and don't recommend to other females.

billing is a nightmare. shamika and mandy, you are wasting your talents here and would be better suited working for the nra. yes, dr. ryan, across the globe a gyn can perform the same tests as a pcp and can serve as the pcp for women.
