Megan Cristea, MSN, FNP-C

Megan Cristea is a family nurse practitioner who is passionate about health issues concerning women, children and families. Her experiences as a mother have strongly influenced her approach in the medical field, giving her the ability to empathize with the needs of families and their various stressors and values.

During the course of her work as a newborn intensive care nurse, Cristea became inspired to go into primary care so she could work with patients of all ages to provide compassionate care for a variety of health issues.

As a primary care provider, she approaches each patient with the hope of developing a partnership in order to achieve each person’s health goals. She believes that establishing a trusting relationship with a care provider is incredibly important to achieving those goals.

“This allows each patient and health care provider to develop a familiarity with one another prior to the stress of an acute illness,” she said. “It also allows for the opportunity for …preventive care so that illness can be avoided and optimum health can be maintained.”

Originally from Morenci, Cristea moved to Tucson to pursue her nursing degree at the University of Arizona more than 20 years ago. After 10 years as a bedside nurse in newborn intensive care, she decided to further her education and scope of practice through the family nurse practitioner program at Northern Arizona University.
