Dr. Megan Wray Furniss, DO

I’ve brought my 95 Y/O Mother in law to see Dr. Furniss several times. My MIL likes her and looks forward to her visits. It appears to be a “unprofessional relationship,” and not a “doctor, patient” relationship. She talks about herself and her personal relationships, which I found unsettling. I’ve been in the medical field for 34 years, and I find her bedside manner to be arrogant and short. She’s very much into the surgeries she can book, and that bothered me. My MIL is not educated in the medical field, and in the car on the way home, many times she would ask me “Now what did she say?” Clearly she was not informed. I did not appreciate Dr. Furniss dismissing her very few questions, and not wanting me to ask anything. Once she found out I was educated in medicine, she stopped talking to me, and ignored my questions. I was not impressed by her knowledge, because her ability to dismiss my MIL, was a big red flag to me. I would not recommend Dr. Furniss, unless you’re looking for a… friend.

Dr. Furniss was highly recommended to me by an RN in Lake County. I found the staff to be pleasant and very attentive, and my wait time minimal. Dr. Furniss was caring and professional. She listened to my prior history, asking questions and then actually listening to my sometimes lengthy responses. Her exam was VERY thorough, and she removed what was later found to be Melanoma. When I returned to have additional surgery, she made sure I was comfortable and explained the entire procedure while doing it. She kept me calm and informed. When I thought my incision was becoming infected, she had me come in the same day I called, then changed my follow-up stitch removal appointment to a date that she was going to be there so she could do it herself. Because this is the second time I have had melanoma, I wanted a physician who would be assertive and informative to take good care of me. That is exactly what I found in Dr. Furniss! I am so thankful to have found such an awesome… physician. I absolutely recommend Dr. Furniss to anyone who wants a great dermatologist!!
