Dr. Mehdi Soltani, MD

Dr. Sultani takes into account every detail of the patient’s history and treats the whole patient. He cares about each of his patients. He is thorough with evaluations lab tests as required to get a perspective of the status of the person before making a definitive diagnosis.

Dr. " Soltani" (as he is known by the staff at the Neuromedical Center - BR) was recommended after I called for an appointment, thinking surely the NMC had top-notch practitioners. I work with East Indian doctors and do not find them genuine or compassionate, although many friends have better experiences and impressions. So, not wanting to be racially biased (as I am a Black female) and after the appointment specialist assured me that he was "really good" and that I'd be "satisfied" b/c he could address "all" of my problems and issues (Adult ADHD, untreated Sleep Disorder - previously diagnosed with Sleep Apnea twice; and progressive short term memory impairment). Scheduling was easy enough; the intake paperwork was extraneous however and took almost 40 minutes - despite the fact that I brought in my own complete Medical History with all my physicians, medications, unfavorable reactions to certain meds, etc.). I was still optimistic and shook his hand vigorously, as I really wanted… to get help and also get at the root of my problems. if possible. My Primary Care Physician (PCP) felt I should start with a neurology assessment vs. sleep disorder or AADHD. He spent a lengthy period with me; almost 50 minutes or longer. But as the interview progressed, he asked dumb questions, despite my efforts to be thorough in my delivery and responses. For example: "Why don't you go to bed/sleep at 11pm?" which he asked at least 7 times. His demeanor was condescending and I was so distraught that at one point I grabbed my purse and after stating aloud "I don't appreciate being talked-down to" he continued and I almost walked out of the interview,(which I've never done before!). When I told him I was single and lived alone. He said "You know it's not good to live along." I'm 65 yo and have lived alone with no complaints for years as most of my "family" is deceased and best friends live out of state or town. I say that b/c he asked about "family", "friends", :relationships"etc.? . So, I asked him "Well, just what do you suggest?...(duh!). He drew a circle to illustrate the correlation between sleep, memory and mood. I have been a licensed clinical therapist for 39 years, which he never asked about my profession and I was too angry to tell him. I have never felt so disrespected, as if I had not researched my issues and attempted to solve them "on my own" over years or without any urgency when I did seek help. But I'd come to the point, I needed "help", and thus I told him if I could "JUST GO TO SLEEP AT 11PM", I wouldn't be there. He finally ordered labs (to rule out thyroid problems); an MRI and referred me to a "lady" neuro-psychologist (which I'd seen a male there 6 years prior) for the AADHD, b/c maybe I'd "like her".And he had the audacity to tell me to "Go to bed at 11 o'clock (now)"! Unfortunately my problems with him had absolutely nothing to do w/ his gender. My blood pressure sky-rocketed and I was livid upon leaving. He gave me a return appointment with a Nurse Practitioner in a month. I won't be going back to him, but have had the MRI, Labs and will see the Lady Psychologist! and Another Neurologist!
