Dr. Mehri Brown, MD

I strongly recommend avoiding this provider

I was misdiagnosed by Dr. Brown with bipolar disorder and she gave me some really strong meds, one of which is Depakote (valproic acid) - known to have serious side effects, including liver and pancreas damage. Now I'm being seen by a psychiatrist with better reputation and that has made a huge difference in my personal life, school, and relationship with my family without any medication. I would advise anyone to do a thorough research when looking for a psychiatrist; I didn't and I paid the price.

If it wasn't so difficult to prove malpractice with a psychiatrist I would get a lawyer. Dr. Brown severely misdiagnosed me with bipolar disorder (after a 30 minute interview!) and put me on a slew of medications. I have since been diagnosed by two psychiatrists who confirm that I do not have even a mild form of BPD. I have recovered from Dr. Brown's "treatment" but I feel obligated to warn others of her. She did an awful job with me and is way out if her depth as a clinical psychologist. Perhaps she should try research or academia.
