Dr. Melanie Lewitt Appell, MD

Couldn't identify my scalp issues because all she tried was a swipe to my forehead with a q-tip. It came back negative for folliculitis, so she was all out of directions to go. Just told me to get a second opinion. Hers was just ????.

Dr. Appell correctly diagnosed an allergic reaction to one of my medications by examining/biopsy of rash. When all other doctors could not connect the dots on all my symptoms, Dr. Appell correctly identified problem. I would recommend her not only for dermatological issues, but also for consult on rashes/symptoms that are seemingly unrelated. Thanks to Dr. Appell, I’m on different medication and back to full wellness. Thank you Dr.Appell and I recommend you to all my friends & family.

Dr. Appell was rude and uncaring. She took 2 mins to do a body scan for cancer. Didn't take time to answer any of my questions and did not touch on the issue I came in for. I was highly disappointed. I think doctors forget that as the patient we come in because we have a problem and do not know what to do. We depend on their advice and expertise. Of course, she got my money and I'm sure billed my insurance for a good rate as well. I will not use Dr. Appell again or total beauty since I can't be sure that the other doctors in the group are not like her. Very sad indeed!!

Dr. Appell has identified several pre-cancerous spots on my skin before they had a chance to develop into a problem and has also treated other skin issues successfully. She always listens to my concerns and at the end of the appointment provides a summary of her recommendations. Her nursing staff are very friendly and always put me at ease. Ii highly recommend Dr. Appell!

I am completely impressed with both the service and compassion of Melanie Appell. I have gone to her for several years and, while I have never had any very serous issues, she has always been terrific and straightforward as she has taken a few little things off my back! She even called me at home after one "excision" to check on me! Not too many doctors do that. Also, my wife has had some serious medical issues in recent years following a difficult surgery (multiple strokes in both hemispheres of her brain). Melanie, without fail, asks about Barbara and listens with care to my updates. I would recommend her to anyone seeking a skillful dermatologist and a compassionate carer! She's the best!

I really enjoy Dr. Appell's honest answers to my questions. I like that she tells me exactly what to expect with the procedure I am about to have. Her staff is always very helpful, kind and courteous as well. She and her staff did such a great job with a recent visit with my daughter who had to get something removed.

This doctor rushed my exam, give me some cream for a pre-cancerous spot which i was allergic to, and when I came back for the followup just brushed me off, told me to quit using the cream and sent me home, didn't do anything to get rid of the pre-cancer spot on my face. I would not recommend this Dr.

Dr. Appell is the best! She is very professional and knowledgeable in her field of practice. Has been my doctor since the 90's. Frankly, Would not trust anyone else with my skin care. She has a friendly yet serious demeanor and truly does care for the overall health of her patients. Is great at following up with her patients.

Always runs nearly an hour late for 7a appt. Called to determine if there was any chance she'd be on time this week, and learned 9 patients were scheduled from 6a-7a -- NO WONDER SHE'S ALWAYS LATE. Frustrating, as you get there early hoping not to be late to work -- no chance.

Our family has used Dr. Appell for years and highly recommend her. Had a niece with a skin problem that was not getting better (being treated by another Dr.), recommended Dr. Appell to them. They got an appointment within a week and within a few weeks there was great improvement.
