Dr. Melanie Louise Petro, MD

I'm shocked to see 1 star reviews for Melanie Petro. Melanie Petro hands down is the best. I've struggled with atopic dermatitis on my face since I was 13. I'm 38 years old. I've been to 6 different dermatologist. I've been diagnosed with several skin conditions from psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, etc.. I almost gave up on hope that my flare ups on my face would never go away until oneday I came in for botox and shared with Melanie my years of struggles with my skin issues and how I've struggled with my insecurities. Melanie listens. She cares. She was the only doctor that did not give up on me. She offered me one of her cocktail special facials. For the first time in years my face was clear. The facial made my skin look flawless. I was finally able to look in the mirror again and get my confidence back. Melanie is a friend, someone I trust, and look up to.

READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE COMING HERE!!!! Don’t make the mistake I made and trust someone’s recommendation over the reviews. I was looking for an option closer to home instead of traveling to Atlanta for my injections and facials. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was a nuisance. I was there for ten minutes before someone even acknowledged me. When a Dr. has only pictures of herself on the walls (and I mean a LOT of pictures) in her waiting room and not of her work, that should have been a red flag to me. The assistant who took my pictures and went over things was the only thing good about this “Dr’s” office. When Melanie Petro came in, I was back to feeling like a nuisance with the worst bed side manner I’ve ever experienced and I’ve been to a few places before for Botos (transplant from Chicago) and always do my homework but trusted someone. On top of feeling like I was interrupting her busy day (when there seemed to be no patients) she gave me some line about it might… take several visits to get the injections right due to a “lift” in one side of my face. First time I’ve been told this after seeing three other doctors over the years. Well now I know it was just a way to get me to come back and pay more for her to fix my right eyebrow that now lifts and the left stays put. I’m not surprised it’s messed up as she took all of less than ten seconds to do the injections…and no numbing cream as well. Just stay away from this woman, unless you want to feel and look terrible about yourself. I will be making the trek back to Atlanta and also letting the woman who recommended me that she should find an alternative.

Absolutely not recommended

As a Clinical Aesthetician and former manager of med spas, I knew exactly what I wanted. She did not listen to what I wanted but made her own suggestions...more procedures than I wanted and a lesser product (a 6 month not 2 year results product)...10th day after and my lips are still numb and frozen and what I wanted fixed is still not done...did not want my lips Botoxed but nasolabial folds filled!

Although I liked my results from the fillers I had done by Dr. Petro, I found her bedside manner to be a little off putting and her prices to be high. She was somewhat warm and friendly but also seemed to have a pompous-like attitude at times that made me feel uncomfortable. To the point where I directly asked her a few questions and she didn't even acknowledge that I was talking, it was so awkward that a member of her staff finally jumped in to answer me. The office in general has this "members only" feel to it that is slightly intimidating and not very welcoming. It's a shame because, from a marketing standpoint, they're onto something but seeing a photo album in the waiting filled with nothing but pictures of Dr. Petro from every angle possible, as well as pictures all over the wall of nothing but Dr. Petro....as a female I would rather you market the faces of those you've helped instead of splashing your own face everywhere.

Dr. Petro is the best. I wouldn't trust anyone else. She listens to your needs, offers suggestions and will be up front and honest. She's compassionate and and a friend you can trust. Thank you Melanie Petro for being the person you are!

I am extremely disappointed with my results. I would not recommend Dr. Petro. I feel you can find better doctors in Birmingham.

Been seeing her for years and she has totally changed my self concept. Everywhere I go I get comments on my skin and face. She has good sense of aesthetics and she never gives you an "over done" look; results are very natural.

I thought she was a board certified plastic surgeon. She is not. Cosmetic surgeon is the title and there is a difference. My experience was exhausting.

Dr. Petro and her staff are awesome! I received a co2 lazer treatment and the faults are amazing. My skin is not so old and the tightness of my skin is coming back. I was very surprised. She has the understanding of what someone needs to do to ease the aging process. And is conservative in her treatments so it is noticeable but not overstated. I trust her with my skin..
