Dr. Melanie D Ramachandran, MD

I saw Dr. Ramachandran several times during the year 2013. She was extremely condescending and not compassionate. She pressured me to keep using a less-effective birth control method I was not satisfied with and ordered several ultrasounds to monitor ovarian cysts (a side effect of the pill she prescribed me). She repeatedly told me how painful an IUD insertion would be but offered no real pain relief. I was given misoprostol pills to insert and told to take ibuprofen the night before and day of the procedure. She gave me a stress ball to squeeze during the IUD insertion. I almost passed out from the pain. I suspect she inserted it improperly; she told me she doesn’t like inserting IUDs in patients who haven’t given birth before. After the post-insertion follow-up, I never went back to her office. I ended up having the IUD removed less than 2 years later because it caused almost constant discomfort. I’ve had terrible medical anxiety and trauma since then, which I’ve worked hard to… process and overcome in therapy. I will never forgive her for how she treated me.

I had the worst experience with this provider. I didn't feel listened to and actually wasn't listened to at all after I stated I was allergic to latex repeatedly and she still used latex gloves on me. It was my first and only appointment with this provider . While I was telling her what my issues and concerns are I was speaking to the back of her head all while she was typing and just saying okay. I informed her of my pain what my past experiences have been and what my issues are now, all with okay okay responses. The interaction was cold and indirectrect, when it came to the exam I stated I was allergic to latex it was in my chart that I was and latex was still used. After the exam when I questioned if she just in fact used latex on me she said yes and told me to just clean myself up at the sink when she leaves. No nurse was ever present during the exam and just as a whole I had a terrible experience. I was informed that I was unwilling to help myself because I denied the use to… wanting birth control or any type of device inserted in me. I requested my progress note and as I am reviewing it she wrote that I never had pain or discomfort that I have normal menstruations that she instructed me on self breast exams all to be false and even wrote down wrong surgical dates in my file. I was simply never going to go back but now reading untruths really upset me and I still don't feel listened to by medical professionals. If I could give no stars I would.

Dr. Ramachandran is absolutely wonderful. She takes time to listen, to explain, and provide answers to my concerns. She's thorough and orders tests such as bone density, mammograms, blood work, etc. She put me at ease and I am so glad she is now my OBGYN.

I saw Melanie after my first miscarriage (I was hospitalized) because I was having continued severe pain and bleeding. Melanie Ramachandran told me I had not lost a child and it was simply a BAD PERIOD. The emotional stress and trauma this woman caused me in such a hard time is criminal. I went on to have another miscarriage a few months later and it still was not as painful as the first. I want to sue!!!! Do not go to this woman she is a far cry from a real doctor.

Incompetent, cold, no compassion for female pain which is very strange for a gynocologist and a woman dr to have no empathy for her female patients.

She wasn’t interested in answering important questions about pelvic pain and ignored an obvious prolapse during exam because, “ that should only happen if you’ve given birth”. Wanted to push birth control but not test hormones or discuss peri menopause. If you think you have symptoms of a UTI you somehow need to drop off a sample in a sterile cup way out in east syracuse. My current ob/gyn spotted the problem right away and I had to have surgery but if it was caught earlier I wouldn’t have had to go under the knife. ??

I absolutely adore Dr Ramachandran and her entire staff. They are very efficient, friendly, and breath of fresh air for a GYN office. Who wants to go to the GYN, I never did but since coming to this office I don't mind. It's that pleasant. I tell other women about this office when discussing GYN. Thank you very much.

I would recommend Dr. Ramachandran to anyone. She goes out of her way to make her patients feel comfortable and to answer any questions. It is because of her diligence I avoided what could have been a bad health crisis, she she found an ovarian tumor I had no symptoms for. She is also honest and helpful when selecting a birth control, and she makes you feel comfortable no matter what questions you have. Great doctor!

She made me feel like all my problems were manageable and everything would be ok. Her kind care, combined with her knowledge and experience is the ultimate triple threat. Best doctor in the 315

After reading reviews I felt led to add mine. Dr. Ramachandran is and has been an asset to my life and health. Both she and her staff are compassionate and very helpful. She is direct and to the point but excellent physicians do not always have time to chat etc. I do send others to her and offer the suggestion to really listen and weigh her comments and advice with objective trust. She and her husband have devoted their lives to helping others. In my book she is top notch.
