Dr. Melinda Lawrence, MD

I underwent a nerve block ( 1 of three) that did nothing for me, I spoke directly to the doctor’s nurse to schedule my second injection. The RN gave me the name of the medication for the second injection to give to Central Scheduling when I scheduled the second injection , I DID! . Long story short , DR Lawrence’s RN told me they “ messed up” and gave me the same medication twice. The RN and the doctor both blamed scheduling. I filed a complaint with UH , after the finger pointing and cover up it was my fault. I would not recommend this woman for anyone even someone I hated. In my opinion she and her “ team is not thorough and are apparently liars . As far as UH is is concerned that organization is terrible, they will always be 2nd best to the Cleveland Clinic!!

Why BOTHER...

She wrote of conversation that we did not have to avoid prescribing any actual pain medicine that would help with herniated discs and bone spur in neck. Just ridiculous lack of refusal to treat the pain appropriately

I saw this women for nearly a year for horrible neck pain and tingling hands and feet. She gave me few ineffective injections and some muscle pills. After 10 months of suffering she orders an MRI and calls me - yeah for real this POS actually called me to tell me that my spinal cord was in peril and I could easily become paralyzed from c6 down without surgery SAP. I SUFFERED for nearly a year before she bothered to read my symptoms properly and order the scan. 3 years later - failed cervical implant from her hospital system - 13 nerve blocs - 3 ablations - 2 ketamine treatments and i still suffer ever single moment of every day. Medication - forget about it. You will become a drug addict so suffer instead - crazy but then was offered marijuana for pain relief which i refused I think this blank faced girl forgot that medicine is to heal those in pain. Not sit there - snobby doe eyed condescending looking down her nose at you trying not to smirk at your suffering. DO NOT put any faith… in her cuz she could care less than less about you or your problems. I would give her 0 star rating but it makes u give 1 as lowest.

This doctor does not care about your health issues she cannot wait to get out of the room. She already has a predetermined opinion of your medical issues. the only thing they worry about is NOT to prescribe pain medications. Very disconnected to say the least. Have seen (2) pain management doctor's at UH both care less . Would not recommend this hospital or doctor's at all. Recently has surgery and called due to severe pain, had to call again. No follow up. I would not recommend UH for health issues. Cannot wait to get away from them.

Dr. Lawrence was very unprofessional when I saw her. Was distant and appeared non-caring. Would not recommend her. I believe she had pink eye (highly contagious) and never cashed her hands I asked her if she had pink eye and she said no it was conjunctivitis. Duh... I'm not that stupid they are the same thing. She told me there was nothing she could do to help me.

i visited the pain management department for diagnosed, degenerative, severe hip arthritis. The UH policy is to bend over backwards to not prescribe any form of opiod pain medication. I understand the underpinnings behind this policy, however, my pain is real and i'm not responsible for how we got here. Dr. Lawrence was unempathetic, arrogant and presumptuous. She was reluctant to even lay opt the path by which I could receive the pain medication I so desperately need. Only unconventional alternatives. Overall horrible experience.

Dr. Lawrence is caring, listens, and gives options without pressure. She respected my having done my own research and prescribed what I asked to try.

To make this short I have a complex etiology of a disease yet to be diagnosed, but my neurologist has referred me to a rheumatologist for concerns of a connective tissue disorder. Aside from this my symptoms present as a neurological disease without pos scans, but extreme muscle atrophy and somatic sensory disruption of peripheral limbs can be seen in CTD. Anyways, Dr. Lawrence was abrasive, disrespectful, and judgmental when she spoke with me in a snide tone bringing up the fact that I've seen many specialists (all just neurologists) and many test. She has many more years to go before anyone can call her mature, and I'm surprised University Hospitals has a doctor like this on staff regulating someone's life during general anesthesia.

Very professional, very knowledgeable. I will continue seeing her for pain management.
