Summary
Dr. Melissa Beard grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas. She attended Pittsburg State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She then moved on to University of Kansas School of Medicine, graduating in 1986. She completed her pediatric training at Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City in 1989. After practicing pediatrics for 10 years in KCMO at Kaiser-Permanente, she joined Pediatric Care North in January, 2001. She is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Growing up as the child of a Pittsburg State coach, Dr. Beard was a passionate sports fan at an early age. She is an avid Kansas City sports fan, especially Royals and KU. She is our office expert and consultant on any sports topic. Dr. Beard also enjoys traveling, taking cruises, reading and spending time with family and friends.
