Melissa Autumn Brown, APRN

Originally from Asheville, Mel found herself calling Greenville home after accepting her first RN position in the Neonatal ICU at Greenville Memorial. After many years supporting mothers emotionally at their children's bedsides, along with her own experience with postpartum anxiety and depression, she felt a strong pull towards a role that encompassed both women’s and mental health. Mel received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University, and is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with full prescriptive authority. During graduate school, she received additional training and certification through Postpartum Support International for Perinatal Mental Health and served as a Peer Mentor for their ever-growing Peer Support program. Mel loves working with women of all ages; however, she is incredibly passionate about helping women who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and OCD in …pregnancy, postpartum, or after a loss, as well as those who have experienced traumatic births or have spent time in the NICU (her son was a NICU graduate!). She believes that unless we address all aspects of a client’s life, medication only serves as a band-aid, but that medication can also be the rescue float that gets your head above water so you can breathe and move forward. Her goal in practice is to help you reach yours - whatever those goals may be. Sometimes those goals might just be wanting to feel like yourself again. Outside of work, Mel enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling anywhere, live music, and coffee on the front porch. Always in attendance is her adventure loving 8-year-old son who loves mountain biking, Top Gun, and Halibut (yes, the fish).
