Dr. Melissa Maryn Campbell, MD

She is one of the newer doctors in my psych. clinic. She is only part-time, only there for 6 weeks at a time. I have been going to this clinic for 8 years now, without going into details on my diagnoses, and have been prescribed Ambien to help me sleep. Every other doctor I have had at this clinic has prescribed this to me, while knowing full well that I have Sleep Apnea. Dr. Campbell, after seeing me for just 10 minutes, told me she would not be continuing my Ambien because she said "You could die in your sleep from it and if you do, I could lose my license". After that visit, I spoke to both my PCP and Pulmonologist about this and they didn't know what she was taking about. Obviously, neither did she. I explained to her that I've been taking this medication for 8 years and I'm still alive. I find her to be totally unqualified to make this determination. And to tell a patient about how she could lose her license is totally unprofessional. She has no personality and has no real reason… to care about me given our brief meeting. I believe she should be fired and have passed that on to those who hired her.

I specifically told her I was worried about getting Tardive Dyskinesia from the medication I'm on so she decides to prescribe me another medication in addition to the one I'm already taking that also causes TD. She then said I had 0% chance of getting TD in the next month until I got a second opinion. She treated me with utter disrespect. Horrible psychiatrist. She shouldn't be in this field of work if she doesn't care about her patients.
