Dr. Melissa Ann Carlucci, MD

Dr. Carlucci is a pretty good doctor. Whenever we go to see her for my son's doctor, she has answered every question I've asked. Whenever my son was in the hospital, she always called to make sure he was doing ok. There is one slight problem with her and her staff: the availability of them. Lately she has been so busy that it is hard to get time to see her. It can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to see her. This may be due to the demand in the Raleigh area. There are a lot of children who are recently being diagnosed with endocrinology issues. Otherwise Nurse Hunter and Dr. Carlucci have been great to my T1D son.

There is a strong possibility she misdiagnosed my child. Acted irritated when she was contacted after hours even though she was the doctor on call. She brushed off all of our concerns and told us if we didn’t like it to get a second opinion.

Our daughter has congenital hypothyroidism. It is important to catch it early and our pediatrician did within the first week. We went to Dr. Carlucci for treatment. It takes upwards of 2 weeks to get lab work and it is really hard to make appointments that meet Dr. Carlucci's prescribed time period. She says 6 weeks and we get scheduled for 8-9 weeks out. Lab work should be back within a few days. Keeping my daughters levels on track are critical for proper mental and physical development. It seems like dr carlucci isn't that concerned about those facts or our daughter's wellbeing. They can't even seem to get proper measurements for weight and height which are key metrics for monitoring hypothyroidism. Sadly her practice is the only option in chattanooga. Considering switching to one the other doctor in the group but our experience over the last few months leaves little comfort.

After taking my son to Dr Carlucci for the first time I got the impression that I was bothering her with my questions, taking up too much of her time. The office staff is unfriendly and getting my sons results from bloodwork is like pulling teeth.Not only that but trying to get a live person on the phone takes forever. Had to have my pediatricians office call twice to get us an appointment, because noone was calling us back to schedule one! Not impressed for a pediatric practice.

Met with Dr. Carlucci at the hospital upon initial diagnosis of type 1. She was excellent at easing our concerns about our son's care. She takes the time to address concerns regarding our son's condition during office visits.
