Dr. Melissa Duperval, DO

Dr. Duperval is an outstanding doctor. In addition to a very personable bedside manner (patient, thorough and truly listens), her expertise has made the delivery of my daughter (and follow ups in the years afterwards) an exemplary example of a physician that genuinely cares about her patients and takes the time to provide sound and judicious advice. I would highly recommend Dr. Duperval.

Always made to feel comfortable, she is easy to talk to, and has great suggestions for perinatal care, physically, mentally, and emotionally supportive. Staff is also friendly and very professional.

Even though I do not live in the city I travel all the way there to see Dr. Duperval. She is excellent, professional and caring. The staff in her office are outstanding.

As always, Dr. Duperval was amazing. She is always balancing thoughtfulness with facts. She is always incredibly patient with my concerns and questions!

I have been a patient of Doctor Duperval's for several years and think she is an amazing doctor. I would recommend her to anyone. I have had a lapse of care because I was hit by a car in 2014 and had some extensive injuries to recover from. I am ready to go back and made an appointment, which I could not get for a MONTH. Today I have been back and forth on the phone with the staff because I have developed an issue that needs to be addressed......and was told there was no way they could fit me in ANYWHERE......not with doctor Duperval or her associates......the first "Squeeze in" with a male doctor would be May 12th. I tried to make it clear that the issue probably cannot wait that long...and the response was "Can't you see another doctor"? She apparently has become too busy to see someone who develops an unforeseen issue that requires attention. (Read infection). She has also acquired new staff in my lapse, and there was not one ounce of concern for the fact that It needs to be dealt… with now. The woman was cold and had an attitude. NOT what I experienced with her prior staff, which reflected Dr. Duperval's professionalism. I am now forced to find another doctor because the issue needs to be treated. I asked for a referral...and was told I could go to my primary, who told me to go to the GYN, or the ER. I am beyond frustrated because I love doctor Duperval.........but unless it is a routine visit you can schedule months in advance it is apparent that you cannot get an appointment with her. Whoever reads this can make their own judgment and decide for themselves whether or not they want to have a similar experience.

I have been going to Manhattan Women's Health on the Upper eastside for several years. If I could afford to I would go to Dr. Jennifer Wu, shes kind, funny, nice, gives it to you straight, answers all your questions (no matter how stupid you think they are) and calls you back in a timely fashion. I was sick in the hospital with unbearable pain over a weekend and she called the ER and instructed them what to do. She even called me the next day to make sure I was alright! But Dr. Wu doesnt take insurance so I decided to try Dr. Duperval. I have never had a bad experience until I started seeing her. I had my routine check up, which I waited for 45 mins past my time and then was rushed out of the room like I was cattle. A week later she left a message on my phone not only revealing my results but didnt offer any explanation, she just told me to make an appointment. I didn't appreciate this at all especially with HIPAA laws, even citymd doesn't do that and they are the worst! I called… the office for a week in order to reach her to discuss what was going on with my body. I finally got a hold of her after the 10th time I called. She seemed to put me at ease but I was still worried and nervous. I had a bad feeling about her but I just wanted to get the further tests over with so I could make sure I was okay. I asked how to prepare but she offered no advice. The day of my appointment I arrived early and checked in. 30 mins after my scheduled appointment time, I was told I would have to give a urine sample. I was unaware of this before and had not come prepared. No one told me why I needed to give urine or if this was apart of the test. They just said we need a urine sample and then went off to chat. So I waited and waited to be able to give a sample while patient after patient was seen. And the doctor, nurses and staff joked around and talked about a make up tutorial they were all going to. They then complained about how long it was taking me to go to the bathroom, how long would the testing take and when they would be able to go home. Instead of checking on me and informing me of whats going on, why I wasn't being seen, why they needed a urine sample. Nor did they offer me water or anything to help me speed along the process. I sat there for two hours waiting not knowing if this was apart of the test or anything. I was nervous and after overhearing them talking about me I was becoming increasingly anxious and upset. Finally they told me they had to take a pregnancy test before they could even begin. They were so rude to me at this point that I was just livid, scared and ready to go home. Finally we got on with the testing after I told the doctor I wasn't pregnant and just wanted to get this over with. She explained to me that its standard to do so. Now if its standard THEN WHY WASN'T I TOLD BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT. I would have come prepared and ready to go, instead of sitting there not knowing whats going on or why I have to give urine. The testing was quick, but Dr. Duperval did not put me at ease, did not go over after care and rushed out of the room to answer a call while I was still in stirrups. I understand there are times that miscommunication happens. And some of you might say why didn't I do your homework and research. I did but I was unsure of what to expect from her and wanted to know. I was nervous and scared, sometimes you cant think of all the things you want or need to ask in the moment. As a woman I would expect Dr. Duperval to understand that it is not only delicate, worrisome and scary coming into the office after getting abnormal results. As a medical professional I would think she would be more sensitive and caring about her patients needs. And if shes too overwhelmed or cant handle certain patients, there are 3 other doctors with the practice refer them to one of them! I use to love chatting with the nurses but no longer. They are nasty, rude and condescending. They make comments about peoples weight and talk down to them like they are children. I'm so disappointed with this practice. I had been going there because the nurses and staff were amazing. But its not the same. DO NOT SEE DR DUPERVAL! She is impersonal, rushes you out of the office and is incapable of showing that she cares about your health.I had very high hopes for Dr. Duperval after seeing all the glowing reviews but clearly shes not as great as some people think she is.

Dr.Duperval is great. She delivered my first daughter and will be delivering my son in June!
