Dr. Melissa Woodward Campbell King, MD

A 1 star is extremely generous!! I have been a patient of Dr King’s for many years. I recently experienced a serious skin issue on both arms for over 3 months. It took over 9 days of phone calls to get her medical assistance to return my phone call. I left 2 messages one day and when I called a 3rd time I got the receptionist. She indicated she would call back to them to make sure they call me back. So my question was do they not call everyone back? During this time my primary dr was so concerned she was contacting me every other day to check in on my skin infections. Once I got an appt with Dr King she was disrespectful, condescending, would not listen to me and/or listen to understand what I was experiencing. She did not ask questions to better understand or be able to diagnose my skin issue. The end of my appointment she said “there is nothing else I can do for you! You need to call Virginia Commonwealth University Dermatologist and get an appointment there. I asked her which… dermatologist I should see there and she said who ever answers the phone! Lisa it will take a year to get an appointment but take it!” The lack of Dr King’s abilities and/or interest in the infection ulcers on my arms has lead to me having had to seek out a special wound care doctor. This all has effected me physically, mentally and financially. Dr King needs to decide if she is in medicine to help her patients or is for another reason?? I am extremely disappointed in Dr King!

Dr King has been my dermatologist for about 15 years. She and her well-trained staff are consistently punctual, friendly, efficient, attentive, caring and helpful. They have guided me through various procedures from routine annual skin exams to removal of cancerous and pre-cancerous trouble spots. I have great faith in Dr King and trust her completely.

It is interesting how some patients gave her great reviews and others were poor. I give her a poor rating of (1) as she was rushing through my appointment, abrupt and condescending. She definitely has a poor bedside manner. You would think with her education credentials she would be professional and interested in her patients. Maybe she picks and chooses who she wants to be a professional doctor to? I definitely was not one of them today. I will say her staff was excellent.

Dr. King is not patient focused. She rushes through exams too quickly and does not listen to patient's concerns.

Having been a nurse many years ago....I consider myself a hard one to please! However.....after going to Dr. King now many,many times....I realize how fortunate we ALL are to have her! She will forget more than alot of other doctors will ever know! Her compassion and dedication to her patients is sincere and comforting. Everyone I have referred....feel the same way! Thank you,Dr.King for always making me,the patient, not only feel important,but staying on top of any problem I have had. You and your staff are phenomenal......

Dr. Melissa King and her assistant Kayln are absolutely WONDERFUL! So patient, caring, and listened to exactly what I wanted and made it happen! She is the best!

I was referred to Dr. King by my allergist. During my first visit, she performed a biopsy. By my 2nd visit, I had a diagnosis and a treatment plan. Dr. King was very thorough, and I was pleased with her expertise.

DR KING WAS SUGGESTED TO ME BY MY CARDIOLOGIST12 YEARS AGO. BRILLIANT IS THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE HER. SHE MAPPED MY BODY SINCE I HAD A MELANOMA AT AGE 35. SHE HAS DETECTED EVERYONE OF MY SKIN CANCERS WAY BEFORE THEY COULD METASTISIZE. BASAL CELLS; SQUAMOUS CELLS AND A NEW MELANOMA. I AM HERE TODAY BECAUSE OF HER SKILLS. AND BEYOND THAT, SHES A VERY NICE PERSON!

She has zero people and I have no confidence in herb. Walked into room expressionless and said I should have a couple tests done. Recommended an otc remedy and offered a quick dx. Said to return in 4 months and I am sure I will not. I will be returning to my long time dermatologist although she is 2hrs drive away.

She has a poor bedside manner. Comes in to the exam room looking down at you. Visit was very brief. Rolled her eyes and acted as though it was beneath her to have a conversation. I had a rash. She didn't analyze I. Just gave me an $800 prescription for some cream that didn't work. She was real quick to send me right over to the office's cosmetic laser center for sun spots, though. They lasered one for free. It did no remove it. Left jagged edges instead. Glad I didn't sign agreement for my face. As far as rash l, it's still there, 2 years later. The $800 cream she prescribed didn't work. Thank goodness I had insurance.
