Dr. Melissa Kresch, PhD

Melissa Kresch was my husband's psychologist, and while she had amazing reviews, I recognized that even after 6 months of attending sessions with Kresch, his behavior and addiction issues were worsening. I attended with him one day, and it became apparent that she was not even aware that he was drunk and high during the visit and did not address this fact. I was very disappointed that while I was very clear with her through information I was feeding her about his erratic behavior due to substance abuse, her conversations with him were about irrelevant topics, and rather than flat out telling him when he was being sexist or a bigot who needed to reframe his way of thinking, she communicated with him that we just had different viewpoints and potentially didn't belong together. I have known my husband a long time, and these issues developed with his substance abuse issues, and I expected someone with Melissa's expertise to recognize this pattern and be able to address it or at least… refer him to a center where he could be rehabilitated. My husband does not have health insurance, and I paid thousands of dollars out of pocket only for his behavior to worsen, for her to witness his abusive behavior toward me in person, and for us to be in worse shape than where we started. I am sure Melissa has the best of intentions, but perhaps substance abuse or marital counseling for those with substance abuse problems is not her forte. She seemed like a kind woman, but please choose carefully depending on her area of expertise.
