Dr. Melissa D Newman, DO

Dr Newman was my hospitalist and did not treat me with courtesy, respect or dignity. She delivered the result of a single lab test that was very impactful and in the end was incorrect and informed me of a diagnosis, which was false, in a very abrupt and insensitive manner. She did this when I did not have the support of my husband, family or friends. She asked, “are you surprised by this diagnosis?” to which I replied, “yes”. The diagnosis she reported was out of her area of expertise and ultimately proven wrong. Her interaction with me at a most vulnerable time during my hospitalization was cold and cruel. As a medical professional with 35 years of practice, holding a faculty appointment at a major university hospital, I have decades of experience in healthcare and can recognize Professionalism, Communication Skills, and Medical Knowledge. Dr Newman lacked all of these competencies and should not be taking care of patients.
