Dr. Melissa Tabor

Dr. Tabor missed a pulmonary embolism I had in 2015. At the time, I was a first year medical student that she taught. I came to the sports clinic after developing a hematoma and thrombophlebitis from kickboxing. She told me my veins were completely clear after performing an ultrasound despite an easily palpable inflamed and indurated vein in my leg. She completely dismissed my shortness of breath complaint and disregarded my request for a CT. She prescribed steroids for the inflammation which didn't help with the pain and caused insomnia. After one of her lectures, I asked if I can stop the steroid because it caused insomnia and I needed better rest to study well. She told me that in class she is my professor and not my doctor so I would have to schedule an appointment for her to give me an answer. I decided to see another physician who ordered the appropriate diagnostic tests and it was found that my great saphenous vein was completely occluded and I had bilateral pulmonary emboli. I saw Dr. Tabor for my hand and wrist injury at Nsu in Davie, FL. I had an achy pain in both thumbs/wrists at a 4 out of ten consistently before I saw her. She recommended that I try physical therapy because my hand muscles were so weak. This helped my hand muscles and wrist muscles get stronger. After doing hand and some wrist exercises she recommended I start light weight training. All of this helped and got me stronger. Before i saw tabor I thought that I had no other choice but to get prolotherapy or PRP injections because my pain was pretty much at a constant 4 or 5. Now I am at a one or two on a bad day and I am able to lift weights and go about my life on a regular basis pretty much pain-free. I found Dr. Tabor to be knowledgeable, intelligent, and caring. I am Very glad I met Dr. Tabor and the Nsu clinic. I highly recommend her.
