After being on a weight loss medication for over a year with no issues/side effects, I asked Dr. Covington if we could transition to appointments every couple of months instead of monthly. I had two valid reasons: first, I was completely stable on the plan and our monthly check-ins had devolved into repetitive small talk about my diet. Second, my new insurance plan carried a higher specialist copay.Her response was, 'the insurance company is taking more money from you, so you want to take money from me now?' I was stunned. Is her financial bottom line the priority, or the patient's care? I also received a surprise invoice from her after paying my copayment in office. She had charged me for a 40-min. visit instead of a 30-min. visit because we had 'gone over' the time limit. As the provider, it is her responsibility to manage the session time--especially since she doesn't have a clock in the office and the reason we went over was because she was talking. Because of these 2 instances,… I won't be returning.
