Dr. Melvin T Joki, MD

We absolutely love Dr. Joki! He professional with parents and kind hearted to the kids. Our son loves him and has no fear of going to the doctor.

Everytime we have gone to Dr. Joki he orders bloodwork, x-rays and all kinds of extra things. I feel like he may be in on some insurance fraud. For them to determine my son had the most common strand of the flu virus he requested after it was confirmed bloodwork and 4 x-rays! all of this for what? My 6 year old is TRAUMATIZED from all the unnecessary tests Dr. Joki has you do. If you oblige to one then he shames you into getting them anyways. Saying your neglecting your child's health. One of the test he wanted done was a Tuberculosis test! He will order unnecessary tests and make your child terrified of the Dr.

I wasn't sure about Dr. Joki at first, but my husband convinced me to switch our twins to him. After a several appts, I am still not that impressed. I feel as though I am being talked at and not talked to. Also, he is always quick to give the next handout of information instead of listening to your concerns. There was one occasion when I brought my twins in for their wellness check and Dr. Joki had just handed me another handout about safety tips. One part of it being " Do not leave your baby unattended on a high place". Shortly after, he was examing one baby while I was holding the other and then left him on the table and stepped back to lean against the counter. In addition, the front office staff does not always know what is going on with the doctors. I called to reschedule an appt and was told the dr. doesn't see the children at the same time. When he has always has seen them at the same time for their wellness checks. Also, I have a little bit of a problem with there not… being any sinks in the rooms. The doctors use hand sanitizer to clean their hands. Needless to say I am just simply not impressed with Dr. Joki or the rest of the staff at Cooks.

Dr. Joki is awesome! hes been seeing my son for almost 3 years now.. when he was 6 months old he had a seizure at 6 am on a sunday and was transported to cooks childrens in Ft. Worth, shortly after that we had a visitor and it was Dr. Joki himself! He really cares about his patients.. i referred everyone i know to him. Thanks to the staff for always making us happy!

I took my daughter in for a spider bite on her face; she was seen by the N.P. and we were given polysporin!! Of couse the bite got worse and one side of her face swelled up by the next morning; took me 4 hours to get a call back for an appointment the next day. Dr. Joki looked in her eye then went on talking about how to find the spiders and to keep putting the polysporin on it!! I asked if we should be more proactive with a bite on the face. He said he didn't like to write RX's; it would heal up fine. I said no! I had already been told by another Dr. And 2 pharmacists that she needed an oral medication. He said "I'll give her a steroid then!!'" Slammed the door in my face and walked off! I was in disbelief!! Previously, the office lost her shot records and he tried to give her 12 vaccines in one visit!! Somehow the records just showed back up when I said she will absolutely not receive 12 vaccinations!! This office is in it to bill your insurance and not concerned about the child's… health!! I always had an eery feeling around Dr. Joki! He's a creep and I hope at least one person will read this and run the other way!! He's a JOKE of a Dr.!! I will never be back and I'll tell every person I know, see at he grocery store, etc...what a sorry office Cook Children's is!!!

Dr. Joki has been my pediatrician since the day he was born. He is caring and takes time to answer my questions. His staff has always been kind to my son and I never have to wait long.

Dr. Joki has been my son's pediatrician since the day I delivered him. He is knowledgable as well as his staff. He has always taken time to answer questions and concerns and has always been kind to both myself and my son. I have recommended him to many of my friends looking for a qualified pediatrician.

I was a little concerned about getting my son the MMR shot. Dr. Joki told me that if I did not get my son that shot I was "stupid." He had me in tears during the vist and did not let up even after he saw me crying. He said that parents with concerns about vaccines are not educated. He told me to find another Dr.! Don't worry Dr. J, I will!
