Dr. Melvin Hitoshi Yamase, MD

Dr Yamase is the best physician we have ever had. He is the model of excellent primary care and exemplifies a good bedside manner. I met Dr Yamase in 1988 when he was the Head Resident at Providence Portland and I was in for an extended visit with Guilliam Barre. I was very scared and he was so thorough, professional, knowledgeable and compassionate to me that I formed a bond and followed him his whole 35 years career, even when he moved 20 miles away. My husband transferred to him 15 years ago. Dr Yamase has always been attentive to our issues and concerns. He always gave good advice or knew who to refer us to. We could always reach him, in person or text so our trust was huge as we aged. He was always very personable, listened, cared and we could tell he was a very nice family man. I have a very serious medical history with cancer and heart issues and he always talked to me straight on, and very timely but caring. If I worried, I could contact him and he answered immediately. There… is not any better. Since he is retiring, we are sad because we will miss his professional expertise and friendship.

Incredible physician. Compassionate, extensive knowledge, astute diagnostician, efficient and good at managing time.

He has been our family GP for the last few years. Very pleasant, listens well, explains himself, easy to understand. Seems to have a very broad base of knowledge. Altogether an excellent choice for a GP
