Dr. Mercedes A Paine, MD

Dr. Paine and her staff like to guilt their patients who work and cannot take a day off for a Dr appointment. Her staff just bit my head off because I have NO paid time off at my new job and I work far away from home (so I can’t get to an appointment any earlier than 8). They snap at you for not knowing things even though they usually lose checks OR forget that you have an appointment.

My son was referred to Dr. Paine by his high school's Child Study Team. Dr. Paine was thorough, kind, understanding and knowledgeable. She spent time with my husband and I first and then time with my son and then time with all of us together. I would highly recommend her to others and I have already referred her to two of my friends.

Dr. Paine may be a bright qualified dr who means well but she consistently runs late - VERY LATE - sometimes an hour. Then you feel rushed through your appt and are not always given the full session time you deserve. She is terrible at followups and returning calls. Her office staff is rude and incompetent. She takes no insurance and is very expensive! There are a lot of other good psychiatrists in this area So there is no need to put up with all these issues for an exorbitant fee.

I definitely would recommend Dr. Paine. She is one of the smartest Drs. I've ever met. She is one of my favorite drs. even though She is very busy and She is hard to get on the phone but she will return important phone calls. She truly listens to what you have to say. I've got nothing but help from her in regards to myself and family. It takes time to know someone so you can't judge any dr. on the first or second visit. I've had about 100 visits. There are definitely goods and neg's with any dr. But with this one the goods outweigh the negative's. And one neg. is she does not take insurance, it's worth it to me to submit a bill myself, although some insurances don't allow that. In that case she is very expensive and I'd have to change if my insurance didn't pay partial of she charges.

Excellent doctor. Compassionate and concerned. Really cares about her patients and goes above and beyond to help them. Everyone is treated as an individual and she really knows each and everyone of her patients inside out. Dr. Paine is an example of good quality health care. I recommend her to everyone without hesitation! Most doctors don't really even care but this one truly does.

Dr. Paine's reputation as an excellent child psychiatrist is well deserved. She truly does care about her patients! Dr. Paine is busy, overwhelmed and all over the place but that is unimportant in comparison to her actual disposition. She is an extremely knowledgeable, caring physician who will do anything for her patients. She is a compassionate doctor who actually cares about the overall health and well being of her patients. I have never left that office feeling neglected or mistreated. I do think that her secretary is sometimes a little short and rude but that is besides the point. I am not there to have a session with her secretary. I strongly disagree with any negative comments about this doctor. She is just so unbelievably knowledgeable about EVERYTHING that is medical. She is busy yes but that is because she is in such high demand. You cannot have it all. You cannot expect a psychiatrist to be extremely competent but have no wait in their waiting room. She spends a lot of time… with her patients and never makes me feel rushed out or like she is pretending to listen. I recommend her to all my family and friends without hesitation!!!! I trust her to the fullest extent to make decisions that are in my best interest and to select the right treatment for me. Her empathy is extraordinary. She does not pretend to get it, she really does get it. She appears to be very engaged in what I have to say and what is going on with me. She has been a partner in my treatment and a friend that I can always depend on when I feel like things are spiraling out of control. When it comes to mental health, the utmost knowledge and care is required. She has taken care of me wonderfully and I have never received anything less than the most highest quality care from this physician

i seriously do not know how anyone can say anything but positive things about mercedes paine. dr. paine is a wonderful person and she is deeply concerned about every individual patient. she is very warm, caring and motherly. you can feel the warmth and concern when you talk to her. most doctors are money hungry and really do not care. this is far from the truth about dr. paine. there have been times i could not pay and she saw me regardless. she also gave me a break money wise in the past. i know that dr. paine would see me even if i had no money to pay her. she truly builds a relationship and bond with the patient and it is no longer just a paycheck for her. when i am upset and i see dr. paine gets upset too. she truly has empathy. she is a mom herself and i can tell. she knows me better than anyone else and really cares about me! she even texts me. i do not consider her my doctor. i consider her a vital part of my life, someone that has truly impacted me in a way that no one else… has. she is a very well respected psychiatrist and i understand why!! she is also a very beautiful older woman. not that it is relevant but i just love her!

I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Paine. She is by the far the most caring, involved doctor I have ever met. She really takes an interest in her patients and spends a lot of time getting to know them. She does not put labels on people until she is sure. She even texts me to see how I am doing! Anyone who says anything but positive things about this doctor is nuts. She is busy and in demand because she is excellent. She is one of the most sought out adolescent/child psychiatrists in the NJ/NY. Dr. Paine was the only psychiatrist who figured out I had a personality disorder with overlap of ADHD. Everyone else just treated me as a typical depressed patient, wrote me a prescription and sent me out the door. Dr. Paine has changed my life. She is not a money hungry animal like most doctors. She truly cares about people!! She calls parents, schools and does whatever she can to help. She is very involved and just amazing. This doctor has changed my life and she will do the same for… you!!

I love Dr. Paine! The woman is nothing less than brilliant. No one has ever cared about me the way she has. She has extensive knowledge in learning disabilities and can even distinguish between ADHD and bipolar unlike most doctors. She is excellent with children. I seriously love this woman! She can make even the most abstract diagnosis. I don't know how anyone can say anything but wonderful things about Dr. Paine. She does not stamp depression or anxiety on people. She really gets a thorough history and evaluation. The woman is incredible. I never knew a psychiatrist like this existed! Dr. Paine is the way to go!!!
