Dr. Jill Laralyn Armbrust, MD

Dr. Armbrust was referred to me by my OB-GYN in the mid-eighties. I believe I might have been her first psychoanaltic patient. There were challenges, as we were the same age and we were pregnant within the same years I was treated. I believe she was as professional as she could be, given the circumstances. Treatment dramatically shifted from "on the couch" Freudian analysis to sitting and talking more casually within a three year period. Looking back, I see that Dr. Armbrust's strength with me was around self-esteem issues. She was less astute about personal relations. There was also an issue around her Freudian belief that I should be having more children and not working. My guess is she has changed and become more flexible over the years. She was always available to talk, although I often felt it strange that she seemed to know little to nothing about artistic or pop culture. As a writer and a patient, this gap was a struggle for me.

Dr. Armbrust helped my daughter through very complex and traumatic issues from early preteen to college years. The blend of assessing the trauma and the diagnosis of anxiety / depression lead to a successful treatment plan. Dr. Armbrust was available to treat during crisis and more importantly gain the confidence of a teen. The therapy helped my daughter develop confidence and courage. Today she is a very successful student and happy young adult. Dr. Armbrust is honest and straight forward with her patients.

Terrible doctor. Angry. Late. Misdiagnoses patients and overmedicates.

This doctor can be pleasant enough and seem helpful when she wants to, but can also suddenly spurt out rude things. Beware or she'll really offend you. And all she seems to do is listen anyway, she doesn't do any work to help you find avenues of change. There are so many better doctors in the world. Spare yourself Dr. Armbrust.
