Dr. Meredith G Garrett, MD

Dr Garrett and I spoke about resolving post-hernia surgery pain for 8 months, through the V.A. medical system/hospital. She thereafter cut me open, said she didn't see anything wrong, took a small biopsy sample, and sewed me back up. She did nothing to resolve my pain issue. It took another 3 different surgeons visits thereafter, but I finally found one that found the source of my pain during surgery and resolved it. Had to go all the way to Brandywine, Maryland, but it was worth it. Dr Garrett had told me it was "probably a suture" that was causing my pain, almost dismissively. Low confidence in her, even though she had said she had done hundreds (thousands?) of hernia surgeries before, and that she was with Johns Hopkins (also low confidence score for me, after having had a gastric bleed surgery through them). If you're having chronic hernia pain, see a Medstar doctor in Brandywine, MD to get it fixed. Sad story but true. Find a doctor that listens, and cares.

Dr/ Garrett could not get the lump of stage 1 breast cancer out after 3 surgeries. She wanted me to have a mastectomy or come back in 3 years because I am 71 years old. I went to Dr. Weintritt. a surgeon who got the lump out without any hassle and with INOVA I was able to keep my breast and am being seen 3 times a year by specialists in Cancer. Dr. Garrett is abrupt and really keeps you waiting over an hour.

I was her patient for a simple hernia repair. She botched it terribly, and I had to have two revision surgeries to correct the painful results of her incompetence.

Dr. Garrett is amazing. She did my (minor) procedure the same day as my consult. When she realized I might need insurance pre-authorization she said it was a quick procedure so she'd do it and wouldn't charge me if it wasn't covered. I was nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Garrett was SO personable and competent that I almost enjoyed myself. I will absolutely go back to her if I ever need to see another surgeon (I wish I could see her for everything!!), even if I'm living in a different city or have different insurance.

I had to have serious surgery, that took skill and knowledge as well as presion and expertise. Very very few doctors are able to do what she does. I would (and did) trust my life with her. That is priceless. She is a very special doctor, with compassion and understanding. Wish all doctors could be like her.

Dr.Garrett is a great doctor with a wonderful bedside manner. I was scheduled to have surgery but have decided to cancel because her front office staff is EXTREMELY incompetent.

Very friendly, is at ease with questions, sense of humor, and caring. What more can a patient ask?
